the last ones didn't really turn out well so I decided to take what 80% of the people here take:

A Matt-Groeningnized versions of themselves.

Only prob: Mine looks in the wrong direction.

So maybe there are some people with great skillz that can turn it and make it a bit smaller...would rock  ;)

It's nice. I'd use that. Or is it also possible in better quality?
It seems a bit too small.

You mean like this?

I had to crop out the lovely necklace though. Sad. It suits you quite nicely.

AWESOME! That reminds me of that episode of Bottom and Eddie wears a banana suit on Halloween. Nicely done.

no problem, pixy. I fiddled with it for a while and I'm still not 100% happy, but the first versions kept looking washed-out for some reason...

My suggestion for the next thread:
"Avatar Shop Vista: Now with 75% more Transparency!"

Did you make a scan, or just cut out what you needed Gopher?

Also, your title is too long trickster381.  :)

just cut out, didn't scan or anything, winna.
I've also done some more palette optimization and I think the new one looks crisper than the original...

shaved about .4K off the size from the original, AND it looks better I think.

Howdy folks!

Hope I am in the right thread, but if I am not please direct me to the right one- I do not want to cause any problems for anyone.

Anyhoos, regarding Avatars. I have a car avatar for Ford Mustang, but I was hoping for something more in the Equus Cabalus genre.  Is it possible for me to create (or have you create) a copyright free version of the Evil Spirit horse  (Atilla the Hun's evil horse) from the episode "Kiff Gets Up a Notch?"  It is more what I wanted but I certainly do not want to violate any copyright or creativity infringements.  Please let me know if there if there is anything I can do to help out.  Otherwise, I just stay with the avatar I have.

Normally I'd try to do better, but you're asking a lot by not at least finding the image you want to start from. Our de-facto policy seems to be that, for avatars anyway, copyright considerations are not a concern; not sure if a fair use rationale would hold water in court, but it's not like anyone's profiting in any way, and as far as I know nobody's making a fuss over personal-use avys derived from copywritten material.

Wow, long rambling explanation. Anyway, here's a quick-n-dirty version based on the only screengrab of the evil horse from CGEF's framegrab gallery:

Thanks for this.  I am new here so I was not sure the first step to take and if we were allowed to use images from the frame grabs.  Thanks for the explanation.  The quick and dirty version looks great.  What is the next step, then?  (I am such a greenhorn)  :hmpf:

click "edit" on my post (the one containing the image). At the bottom of the message will be a set if [img] tags, containing a url. Select that whole line, [img] tags and all, and copy it (right click, copy, or just ctrl-c). Then back out of the edit screen and go to Off-topic Discussion and find the thread avatar thread. Paste the copied text there (right-click and paste, or ctrl-v), with the words "Upload to Custom" below it in bold. Then wait very patiently, as avatar uploads occur at random intervals. When they are uploaded, it will be announced in the same thread, and you will have to go to your profile to select the new avy; it will appear as an option in the pulldown, "custom avatar."

Sadly, that's as simple as I can explain it.
