Oh, ok well then. Save it, in case it gets lost somehow on my webpage. (I hope it doesn't)

@jerkberg: Yep, these tutorial Y_L_B found are ideal to learn it! Also if you later intent to make bigger scans, than just 64x64 pixels, you should take a look at bezier curves (it's for PSP7, 6 works nearly the same way) as well.

A nice edit of ooy's xmas avatar btw.  :)

Good job ooy! There wasn't much touching-up work needed.

I blured the beer a bit more and made it transparent, that's all:

edit.. : wait a mom.. my webspace craps out   :hmpf: There we go  :)

Thankies, but don't let it fall into the pool! I want to be special!  :D
You know, the first time I got a custom avatar that was the one I wanted. Margy made me this, which I used for about six months:

That's the problem with Antialising, the workaround is to scan the picture in a much bigger size (at least twice as big) with antialising dactivated.
Then color it and resize it down when you're ready. The resizing will blurr it a little bit to make the lines look smooth.

Alternatively, you could leave anti-aliasing on, create a layer underneath the layer with the trace (we'll call it "Color" ), select an area of the trace using the Magic Wand tool, then click Selection>Modify>Expand (I like expanding it about 2-3 pixels) and fill on the Color layer. I think that will work on PSP6. But the way GFF suggested is far easier, that's how I do it. Just giving you another option...  :)

Nice Kyle  :)

I tried to scan it as well, but it is hard to grab the lines when the original is that small.

the scan art version

if it comes up in a bad way then just click the resizing button
and an avator to go with it because i kinda spammed this thread by talking about scans so here's one of both and by the way, i used german fry fan's way but maybe i'll try yours next time kyle
thank you, i'm going to add this to the pool and custom for me

i can know try and avatorise a picture or scan a picture for someone

Wow... looking realy good! Smooth lines and all. (A bit thin in my opinion though  ;) ) I guess for the way Kyle mentioned you should use a bit thicker lines.

Again, fabulous work!

what size of lines do you use?

I try to get lines of about 2 pixels when the scan is finished.

So when scanning in about 3200x2400 pixels I use lines of about 7-8 pixels thickness.

But again, that is just personal preference, try out what fits your eyes best.  :)

Trying to get custom avatar of Caboose (from RvB) but I'm not that of a wiz in Photoshop like you guys...

Here is what I've done so far with my limited capabilities:

I managed to take a very blunt form of caboose out of the surrounding and removed the crooshair on him.

This is the original piccy. I'd also like maybe if it is possible (not too small) to put "Caboose" (just like it is written in the following pic) to distinct it from.. well, any other Halo deathmatch person-thingy...

I hate jpgs, they screw up my scripts, and make me do things myself.
This is the best i could do, Mr. FryFan will probably do a better job.

I've got scripts for everything, i've got one for avatar making; take a square picture, make a solid background colour, and it'll do the rest.
By the way; use the erode tool, it's really quite handy for thin lined scans.

I had a script that did scans too, but it was pretty sketchy, it was one of the first ones i made. Accidentally lost it in a format.
They're easy to make and well worth the effort to learn. Only available in PSP8+ though.

Ahhh, a nice easy one.
You can either have the one that's always white in the middle (The second one), or the one that varies between PEEL grey and white depending on the background, (The first one) like Global Worming.

Alright...

To whom it may concern:

Take this image, fix the background, and give Professy a Kaiser helmet (a.k.a Pickelhauben). Then I'll love you forever.
