The 4th season DVD was #21 on Amazon.com’s list of top selling DVD’s this week.  Check out the link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/new-for-you/top-sellers/-/dvd/all/ref=pd_ts_d_nav/104-7263430-5263125

And the Los Angeles Times this morning had a story about how Cartoon Network is recruiting college kids to spread the word around their campuses about the shows on Adult Swim. (And how the shows on AS are always at the top of the cable ratings)

And check out this link too:   http://ssfuturama.wz.cz/aff.php

This week, the ratings contain literally nothing but the Republican Convention and Law & Order reruns.

It's been a while since I posted anything here, because it's been this long since I've seen Futurama in the ratings. But I see that in the most recent cable ratings, an episode of Futurama ranked #39, with more than 2.3 million viewers. That's a pretty low number by TV standards, but it's still well over half of what the #1 show had. It was the episode from Tuesday of last week, which I think was "The Deep South" (that one was also highly rated in one of my posts from last year). Five different episodes of Family Guy ranked higher than Futurama; maybe the new episodes of that show have generated interest in Cartoon Network's reruns, and that interest is affecting Futurama's ratings too.

Yeah, AD is basically the exact same show, just with slightly more political humor. Seth said so himself when he was on the Late Show that one time.

But, seriously folks did Fox think that Adult Swim has more power over Fox's shows than Fox itself!? Of course it does!Listen to this announcement that was mentioned from an admin on their forums:

On the acquisitions front, such high-profile shows as Family Guy and Futurama continue to provide top ratings for Adult Swim.  Among recent ratings/delivery highlights, the March 1 telecast of Futurama (11:30 p.m.) scored Cartoon Network’s highest adults 18-34 (1,260,000) and men 18-34 (826,000) deliveries ever for a single telecast.

It may bot be as high ratings as what was mentioned in the past, but if it weren't for [as].. well, there would be no ratings. Plus,a campaign thread has been started on the Adult Swim forums as well. Myself being one of it's leaders. Sadly, most nerds are not welcome there.    Otherwise, I would welcome most of you to the opportunity. It's clear that the fanbase is still going strong. Live on, live mighty!
Viva la Futurama!!   :flirt:

This is all such great news. Couldn't really have hoped for rating this good so long after being axed, and after so many re-runs.

It was moved to the Comedy Suggestion folder, and then the mods there floated it, so no worries on trying to find it. It is kinda dissapointing though, because not many people go there.

Last week, episodes of Futurama were ranked at #15, #22, and #38 in the cable ratings. Four episodes of Family Guy (three from the same nights as those episodes of Futurama) were ranked higher.

The only thing I don't like about CN's showing on Futurama is the fact that they started showing production season 4 on Saturdays. By the time we get half-way through it on Saturday, we'll be starting it again on weekdays. Good thing season four has consistently good episodes, but it still is annoying after being bumped off Thursdays by Family Guy clone American Dad.

I doubt FOX will show it again.  Or order new episodes.  I don't know.  But that would be so awsome if they did.  I just ordered the 3rd dvd pack.  Can't wait to get it.

The new ratings are out, and one episode of Futurama ranked at #8, actually higher than some episodes of Family Guy. Another episode ranked at #18. But I wonder if it's getting high ratings because things are slow during the summer. Last year it ranked a few times but dropped from the list by September, and didn't come back until a few weeks ago.

Actually when Syndication ratings are high, the network is often content to keep the same episodes in circulation for a long time. This is a practice perfected by such quality cable stations as "Nickelodean", which I regard as the cheapest of them all. They create a few good shows and then cancel production to show repeats for up to 7 years, still making easy money without having to pay for production.

Thats because little 5 year olds can watch the same episode of sponge bobsquare pants 5 hundred times and not get bored. adult swim can only show the same futuurama episodes so many times without cancelling it, so unless theres a new season there may not a more stuff, thell just play AD
