I just wanted to know if anyone who went to the Comic-Con this year saw anything Futurama related.  I couldn't make it this year, plus there wasn't a Futurama panel, but I heard that the Bongo booth might have had early copies of this years 2005 calender.  Whats the skinny?

Another question is how bad where the crowds this year?  The Con keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Welcome to Peel Rough Roman,

there were news on CGEF about that Futurama is not present on the ComicCon this year, though some people who worked on Futurama will be there.

here is the link

Enjoy it here, it's where the nerds stay.

I did make it out once again and will have a full wrap up hopefully by the end of next week. The next Futurama Comic should be hitting shelves on Wednesday - Bongo Comics was selling them at their booth. The TPB should be later this year.
As I mentioned, I will have more info by the end of the week on what I saw and my experiences at the show on my site.

*double-take* Did you say there was a Futurama hardcover book coming out? I've been out of the loop for awhile, so I don't know what you're talking about...

Most Brits seem to recommend Forbidden Planet. Apparently it's a nationwide chain. I say apparently, because I didn't find any in London.

That's right Teral, it's nationwide (although there's none in Swindon *shakes fist*). But there is a Forbidden Planet in London, a pretty big one as far as I know...

Part 1 of my Comic Con report is now up. Part 2 should be completed by the end of the weekend with a very special announcement! Before you get your hopes up no the show is not coming back.
Check it out!

This guy below went to the ComicCon and met Groening and he says Groening's trying to bring the show to Cartoon Network. The quote below is from the Futurama Foundations message board [http://p081.ezboard.com/ffuturamamessageboard61725frm3.showMessage?topicID=561.topic]

"At Comic Con yesterday, Matt Groening said that they're trying to find a way to make new episodes to air on Cartoon Network. But the problem right now is that the show costs too much to make. He thinks they will find a way to do it.

Oh, and I got my picture taken with him."

Ooooohoo! I hope this source isnt making this stuff up. If what Groening said is true, it could be the first good news we've had in a while. They could really cut production costs by making such spectacular special effects less common.

Could work...

Awesome report, Bendo. Very interesting, and I could see a pig picture of the cover of Futurama Adventures in some of your pictures. But I'm surprised how Billy West wouldn't sign unless you paid. Looking foward to part 2

Thanx again, your overview is the next best thing to actually being there! It's cloolsome to know new stuff is still being made, and that new cell/giclee rules! Pity I can't afford it really, but it's good to know it's out there...

One little thing, not to nitpick, but it's from the 2002 Calendar, not 2003. You might have just made a typo though...

I saw the Bongo booth and as soon as I got there they ran out of Futurama # 18 comics. Just my luck. Other than that I couldn't find too much. It was like a maze.
P.S. It was my first time there.

Yes tom123 the Con can be quite overwhelming. In years past the layout of the hall was consistant from year to year. The Bongo booth was always located in a particular spot but they have been moved each of the last 2 years to new locations. All to say that in the past when I went to the show I kind of had a good feeling as to where certain things were. With them changing around the layout it takes a day or two to figure out which way is which.
Congrats on going though and hope you at least had a good time with the time you were there.
RM
PS, somebody was nice enough to send me some good pics from the Bongo panel and I will make an update with them in the next day or so.
