...and decide which one is better.

This is a thought that occured to me earlier. As a lot of us seem to think, Futurama is a much better show then current Simpsons, but it and classic Simpsons are neck in neck. So choose your all time favorite episodes from each series and pick one. What'll this prove? Not much, but come on in anyway.

But if you have a favorite Simpsons episode and don't know what it's called, go to www.snpp.com  and go to the search engine. It's to the Simpsons as CGEF is to Futurama.

For me it's Last Exit to Springfield VS. Roswell That Ends Well. I'm surprising myself here when I say Last Exit wins, and by a larger margin then I thought. However, if you were to combine a top ten list from both series into one, it would fit comfortably into the number two slot easily. All right, go ahead. Don't be shy.

I've tried this. While I have a number of Simpsons episodes that I cherish whole-heartedly, none of them hold a candle to my favourite Futurama episodes.

I might get stoned for this, but I don't really like the Simpsons (including earlier years). I dont hate it and if it will be on I'll defenitly watch, but I've never changed my plans to watch it. I just dont find it as funny and sophisticated as Futurama.
Sure it changed TV forever and without it there would be no Futurama, but watching this show almost never made me laugh, or think "This is awsome!". Its pretty a pretty bland show...
Futurama on the contrary made me laugh my ass off, even yestarday when they were showing APTR (which some people consider as the worst episode of Futurama) and this is like the 10th time I've seen it, there are some jokes and references which are stroke of genious... ahhh... damn FOX, damn 'em to hell!

The Simpsons was an unbelievably awesome show.

Really. Plain and simple. Regardless of whatever it is now, it has hit comedic heights that most other shows can only dream of. Futurama was one of the few shows that could do something other then dream...

And don't you dare make me choose between "Homer Bad Man" and "Time Keeps on Slipping."

I dont know, I never could understand what the fuss is all about. Don't get me wrong, I dont hate the show but it rarely really got me laughing out loud.
My favourite Simpsons episode is by far the episode where homer moves to another city in order to work for a company which turned to be running by a madman who wants to control the world. It was funny and a great idea, but it can't really compete with any Futurama episode in my point of view.
In my eyes, Futurama is an evolved version of the Simpsons' humor, with alot more depth and uniqueness to characters, funny one-liners and great ideas.
In my eyes, Futurama is not from the creators of the Simpsons, its the other way around!

Execuse me for being busy. I know that the bit about the Simpsons are from the makers of Futurama is wrong chronologically, but this is what I feel. Execuse me, but I thought I was posting in a Futurama board, not a Simpsons one. Not everybody who likes the Simpsons like Futurama, in my case is the other way around. I just dont find it funny, period. There is no place to argue about that.

Simpsons 'Lemon of Troy' -VS- Futurama's 'Parasites Lost'...

Verdict; 'Parasites Lost', because I prefer Futurama...

Jurassic Bark vs. Lisa's Substitute.

Great as JB is, Lisa's Sub wins this one.

Jurassic Bark vs. Lisa's Substitute

"Jurassic Bark" is one of the most poignant and brilliant episodes of any series ever; animation or otherwise. But, "Lisa's Substitute" outdoes it every time. It is probably the most poignant and brilliant episodes of any series ever. LS wins it, despite how great JB is.

To be honest, I can't say what my favourite episode of the Simpsons is at this moment in time. It's been so long since certain seasons tarnished my opinion of the series as a whole that I haven't taken a real interest in it in ages, even with the first three seasons on DVD (which I mainly watch for the commentaries).

I can't really remember the names of many Simpsons episodes and I can't really choose a favourite between the two. I like the two series in different ways.

If you grew up with The Simpsons like I did (I was 9 when it started, shit that's a while ago  ) you'd be upset at the way it has turned out....I know I am anyway....I never used to miss an ep, up until about a year ago....

I don't really have a fave Simpsons ep though, but the 2001 Halloween ep I remember had me rolling on the floor... :)

welllll....

My 2 favorite episodes really have nothing to do with each other, other than taking place in NYC.

My favorite Simpsons episode is BY FAR "The City of New York VS Homer Simpson." And my favorite Futurama is the shippy "The Sting". NYCvsHS is just a drop dead hilarious episode and Homer being tortured by so many things in NY was great which almost any NewYorker can testify to.(Too bad they dont air it after 9/11. fuckin terrorists)

On the other hand, "The Sting" holds the honor of being one of the only cartoons to bring me to the brink of crying. The excellent plot, and the sad scenes are awesome.

On the whole though, I have to go with the shippy-ness of "The Sting" over the comedy of "NYCvsHS".

"Homer At The Bat" vs "Roswell That Ends Well"

...

 Tie score!

Sorry, but I love each episode to high heavens. Overall Simpsons have more awesome episodes than Futurama, but on average Futurama episodes are better. This is, ofcourse, highly influenced by the fact that Simpsons have 15 seasons (including 4-5 crappy ones) and Futurama only 4.

THAT's your fave, Nasty? Eh, maybe it's a New Yorker thing. Not that it's a particularly bad ep, it's okay, but I believe there are much better, and funnier.

How DARE you express such an opinion! GRWWWWWWWAAAAAARGH!

My faves:

Homer Bad Man (funniest half hour of television in the history of everything). "No Ben!"
Homer the Great "Let's go into our secret hide out." "Sounds good."
Errr... that Clown College one...
"You only move twice" Because they dropped a vat of burning oil on some UN/USA troops.

er... I like a lot of 'em..

And, if you want me to choose, I say 'Homer Bad Man' is, in fact funnier then 'Time Keeps on Slipping.'

Oh well. I'll just love both in my own subtle way.
