I have to write an essay about animation for our university class and thought I'd write about the animation in Futurama (2d blended with 3d...).

The only thing I found so far is this:

Scott Vanzo about 3D animation in Futurama

Does anybody know where I could get more technical info on this subject.
Also non Futurama sites about 2d animation principles or 2d blenden with 3d animation are highly appreciated!

Oh, by all means.. Here are a few sites on animation in general.. http://www.animated-news.com/  http://www.jimhillmedia.com/
Here are some that are more specific.. http://www.comet-cartoons.com/toons/3ddocs/charanim/  http://ffden-2.phys.uaf.edu/211_fall2002.web.dir/George_Nash/03principles.htm
And here are just a few examples of animations that blend 2D and 3D for effect. http://www.tokyopop.com/dbpage.php?propertycode=SAC&categorycode=VAN  http://www.sinbad-themovie.com/  http://mag.awn.com/index.php?ltype=pageone&article_no=2042
It might also be helpful to touch on Flash animation.. Which is technically CG but looks 2D. It's not just Homestarrunner.com.. Shows like Kid Notorious, Ill-Ustrated and Mucha Lucha are animated by Flash which is easy and cheap but doesn't look substandard.

Thanks for the effort but I think you misunderstood me, what I need would be some technical info on the animation process / pro and con, ... of 2d mixed with 3d and if possible about futurama...
