In I Second That Emotion, when Bender is flushing himself down the toilet, and Fry comes in asking "Hey Bender, have you seen my sombrero?" That little added sentece was hilarious, just put there for no reason.

edit: woohoo! super-sombrero-asking-TOTPD  :D

I thought the part in Crimes of The Hot when all the robots are at the party in the Galapagos Islands and Bender goes up to what he thinks is a keg and pushes the plunger to try and get some beer........The Robots expression when he says 'Dont stop'.....hilarious......maybe its just me.

I've thought of some more...

In "Obsoletely Fabulous" Bender slams a beer bottle down on the table, and froth spills out - I thought that was a good bit of detail. Also, teenage Fry's attempt to smooth down his hair in TMLH.

In Raging Bender, when leela finds master Snog (sp?) under the stage. every time he moves, destructor moves too on the screen behid him. It's just something that makes the scene way more interesting and funny, and the animators must have gone out of their way to do it.

In "The Day the Earth Stood Stupid", when the bookcase falls on Fry - the way they animate him in that scene, it actually looks as though his breathing is getting shallow as he slips away. In the same episode, just before Leela turns Fry to the window she looks like she's trying very hard to think, and I thought that was a nice touch as well.

Most of Fry's lines impress me, particularly when he's angry or upset. Making a cartoon emote believably is much more difficult than doing the same with a live-action person. Fry is a very emotional character; it never fails to amaze me how vividly Billy West brings him to life.

On that note, kudos to John DiMaggio for being able to emotionalize (yes, it's a word) a robot.

I think the directors give Leela some wonderful hand gestures and mannerisms. In CHR, while fixing the ship, she has a wrench in each hand, and is holding some other tool in her mouth-somthing I bet everyone does.

I do that all the time!
I liked in I Dated a Robot, how the Liubot had square pupils. I didn't notice it the first time around.

The sage nod bigfoot gives at the end of 'Spanish Fry.' It seems like he's thinking, "My work here is done." I find it hilarious for some reason.

I thought that also in A Flight to Remember, if you can cast your memories back to when they are walking along the marble floors of the Titanic to get to the professor's luxury sweet, you may remember their reflections....i thought it was a really nice subtle touch!!

I just watched a clone of my own and saw that when Cubert came in to inspect the employees, Zoidberg hides his ketchup satchet. Then when Cubert leaves and everyone is grumbling, he gets it back out and starts sucking again contentedly. The animators didn't have to do that and I thought it was a nice touch that made me chuckle.

They comment on that in the commentaries, both the animation and the sound as it lands on him. It is pretty horrific for an animation, very effective.

For some reason, I only just noticed that Amy is almost constantly frowning (her neutral face, so to speak). So it looks like she's always confused. Splendid!

A Clone Of My Own is packed full of nice touch moments...

There's the great part with loads of action and 3d when they're drivging around and escaping with the professor from the near-death star,

There's the "Matrix" type part when Cubert realises the universe moves around the ship and they escape,

And there's the hilarious bit (I think) when dramatic music is playing, the professor's being taken away by the Sunset Squad robots and he says goodbye to the cruel world, the cruel lamp, and the cruel velvet drapes lined with what would appear to be some sort of cruel muslin and the cute little pompon curtain pull cords!!    :laff:     :laff:

Here's another one, in 30% Iron Chef. When Bender says "Amy, you're cute, so I cooked you a pony." the expression on Amy's face is priceless. It wouldn't have been half as funny without that face full of horror,

I like that, too. But not just because he's paying attention all of the sudden, be cause if you look closely, his pupils sort of spin around the center of his eyes. I'll get a framegrab:

Great touch. You bearly see it, but they add it anyway.

Also, I agree with what Venus said. When Fry rubs Leela's back in "The Sting", it's very sweet and cute. Every time I see it, I can't help but say "Awww...."

In "My Three Suns", when the other two suns of Trisol rise (after the first one), Fry lets out a little frustrated growl.  Same thing with Bender when he was trying to get Fry to cry.  That *drip* was a nice touch too when Fry tried to open his recitation of the royal oath with "What up?"

Kinda on the topic of Y_L_B's post: I like how Bender's pupils react to his emotions, like constricting when he gets scared (a la Roberto trying to stab him after he guessed "fifty ... six-ish?" )

In "When Aliens Attack", when they were filming the TV show and Zoidberg said "My God, he's dead", and Farnsworth checked his wrists to see if it was true.  :D

Haha! You know, that never consciously registered with me. But now that you mention it, I do remember a "drip". That's awesome. God bless those subtle Futurama people.

I wouldn't say surprised... more like concerned. If I was mean, I'd say it was a look of pity, like "Oh. This. Always this."

But that's my interpretation. You shippers can just take it and go nuts.  :p

You just reminded me of another nice touch in that same episode ... when Zoidberg, as Prosecutor Ramirez, was given the witness, he said "Gracias."  And, correct me if I'm wrong, I believe that was a bit of ad-libbing on Billy's part.

When Fry blows out the fire on Leela's shoe in "Three Hundred Big Guys". That is one of my favourite scenes of the entire series.

After seeing five posts about the head-whip thing Leela allegedly does when Fry calls her "the woman that I idolize" in the opera, I went to the tape and watched for myself.

I don't see it. Leela turns her head towards the Robot Devil right before Fry gets to that part, and once he sings it she turns her head back to Fry, but it wasn't a headwhip, and her expression looked about the same at it did a few seconds earlier when she was looking at Fry at the beginning of the song.

What am I missing? I've watched it four times and I don't see that shocked expression on her face. It would be kind of cool if she DID, but maybe people are reading a little too much into it, perhaps seeing what they want to? Given how the final episode has been put on such a pedestal around here, it's at least possible.

In "Parsites Lost" at the very end when Fry is trying to learn the holophoner and he creats a sort of crayon drawing of Leela. The smile on his face is so perfect. He is smiling, with an element of sarrow, but absolute love.

Midnight - I love that scene.  When I first saw that episode, I was crushed when I thought it was going to end with Fry giving up on Leela.  Then, instead of cutting to the credits like I expected, we got that.  Retrospectively, that may have been the moment that I realized I was a hopeless shipper.

Another nice touch - Dan Castellaneta's girly scream that he used for the Robot Devil in HIOR.  Such a nice twist over the standard sounds when a character is beat by a heavy instrument (pun intended).

Same here. Though it may also have been somewhere in Xmas Story. In any case, give me five, avatar buddy!

On topic, there's another heartbreaking facial expression on Fry's face when he's leaving Leela's bedroom in the same episode.

I also like the PE ship-shaped potted plant Fry is pruning in Bendless Love. It's weird and pointless and I like it a lot.

The way Fry says "The corner!" in ABBFT, like it's this big epiphany. It's not the best line, but Billy West's reading makes it hystercal to me.

And to keep this post from being all Fry all the time... I like the look on Morbo's face when he gets back on his stool in TDTESS. And right after that, before the crew starts talking about buying internet stock and such,  I like how Zoidberg is clicking his claws and looking at them.

while were on the subject of heartbreaking facial expressions on Fry, rewatch the final scene on The Sting. Some of Fry's expressions there are heartwrenching. Specifically when he is crying, also the way he looks at Leela right after Amy said he had stayed the whole time, and when he and Leela are hugging.

In the one where the doctor gives Leela two eyes (sorry, I can't remember the name), where the doorbell goes at the beginning; and Leela Fry and Bender are sitting on the couch. They all look up, and Leela says 'Is one of you gonna get that?' and they both look at Leela and shake their heads. I loved that look.

In A Fishful of Dollars, when the first lot of cans that he stole fall out of Bender's jumper, he just looks and says "....um" like he's about to make up an excuse but then the rest fall out... :laff:

That's probably the moment that sticks out in my mind the most (as far as "nice touch" moments go). It's just so perfect, and a great way to end one of the best episodes ever.

Oh yeah, and I always seem to notice the way that a particular character acts to a particular situation. I can't think of an actual example from the show off the top of my head at the moment, but say that Bender says "Well everybody, Meatbag's missing" or something like that. I can almost guarantee you that every character will have a different facial reaction to it. Sure, it's not that big a deal, but the little intarcacies of the art of animation always amaze me.

The Professor eating a candy bar or perhaps a Bachelor Bar in The Honking, I think during the scene where they're looking at the report in the paper about the rampaging werecar. For some reason, I hadn't noticed it until my most recent viewing of the episode. Once I finally noticed, I laughed disproportionately hard. Maybe because of how indifferent he is. Bender's on the verge of a nervous meltdown, and the Professor shows up eating a candy bar and looking over his shoulder with vague interest. Nice.

Man, the show is full of perfect facial expressions and emotions like that. However,

Godfallas: When the little boy is hugging the ground with words "Daddy, I'm hugging God... mmm... maybe if I hug him really hard, he'll save us from... *explosion*", Bender's eyes are going top down watchig the bomb fall. I never noticed this until I rewatched the episode for what seems like twentieth time.

Roswel That Ends Well: I like the way Bender's eyes light up when they wake his head lying in the debris.

A Big Piece of Garbage: When they are standing on the asteroid after an unsuccessful attempt to destroy it with three of them in the foreground, Earth in the background and words "New New York's done for", Bender stratches his butt. Great.

I was watching the pilot for the however many billionth time, and I noticed something neat. At the Probulator scene, one of Fry's socks has a hole in the toes... now that's a nice touch (I assume by the animators).
