They do in fact air the shows by production order. However, they are replacing The Honking with Space Pilot 3000 for some unknown reason. And the Groening picks are the week of May 23rd. After The Cryonic Woman, Adult Swim has this weeks episodes pulled from production season 3 (ie AWITM, PL, etc).

maybe the last time they showed the honking, the turnout was so bad, they decided to show sp 3000 because it had better ratings. just a guess.

I doubt that, they've always shown the episodes in production order, I just thought the airing of SP3000 was Adult swim going back to having the sunday night lineups not corelating with the weekday airings. Anyway, I'm pretty mad that they're skipping it because that's a good episode, all episodes are good but that one was always kind of one of my season 3 favorites. Faris,

maybe The Honking will be one of Groening's favorite episodes, so Adult Swim didn't want to air it yet, 'cuz it's too close to the 23rd?

Well now we know why they skipped it, they aired the New Years special last night. Maybe that's why they had been airing the holiday ads. However, they shouldn't just skip it, it should be on tomorrow, but it's not. Oh well, if you want to see it just watch it on your DVDs.

That's what I speculated over at the Adult Swim forums. It's as good a theory as any. The only problem is that I consider "The Honking" to be kind of an odd choice for Groening's top 5 list. It was a good episode, but I don't think too many people have it on their list of favorites.

He will be introducing the episodes, so he will talk. But I'm not sure if they're going to show him or if he's just going to talk over the cards.

It's my understanding that Matt is going to be intoducing the episodes. So I'd assume he'll have something to say about them. I'm thinking he'll probably just be on at the start of the shows, although I'd prefer that CN have additional comments from him rather than their traditional text bumps when going to commercial.

Originally posted by futuramafreak: I thought they were airing them in McSeason order, that's why they had I Second That Emotion mixed in with the 1ACV ones. Just a thought. That was a dumb idea. When Futurama returned to Sundays, they aired ISTE in the middle of the 1ACV episodes (to keep the weekdays going on a seperate rotation). The following week, when 2ACV began, they aired it again (and began using the same rotation for all 5 days). I think the theory that it will be in Matt's picks may be the best one, but I agree that it's an odd choice. And it appears that the first few episodes from season 3 (some of the best) will not be skipped...so who knows. AdultSwim.com still lists the week of May 23rd being the regular rotation.

it wouldn't be in my personal top 5, but then again I pretty much rate my "favorites" as "funniest". Maybe Groening's got a soft spot with "The Honking" for reasons other than the gags...
