About IaGDL: They had plans for the first season 6 episode to have the PE ship crash on a world that was an alien zoo, were they keepers wanted to breed humans. (With Fry not minding at all, but Leela being more reluctant regarding that matter:))
IaGDL was most probably the "replacement" for that episode. I never quite understood why: The PE ship might as well have crashed on that zoo world during a normal delivery.
I certainly would have prefered that setting to IaGDL...

I don't see how that canned episode would have anything to do with In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela.

It was originally going to be their way of getting back into things after the events of Into the Wild Green Yonder, but they opted for Rebirth instead, wisely choosing to set things back in Planet Express because you know, a comeback should embody as much of the spirit of the show as possible, etc, etc.

I don't see why they can't still do that zoo episode somewhere down the line, though. I'd like to see it.

I don't see why they can't still do that zoo episode somewhere down the line, though. I'd like to see it.

I wish they had gone with that idea for the season six premiere; I enjoy "Rebirth" quite a bit, but just hearing DXC explain the whole forced-mating/other-universe-zoo thing in that episode's commentary makes me all sad for what might have been. But I guess you're right: there's no reason why, in a "normal" episode, the crew can't crash-land on some unknown planet and wake up as part of an exhibit of some kind; that story didn't necessarily have to follow the events of Wild Green Yonder. I just don't see the writers resurrecting that particular plot, though. Oh well.

And I like "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela" quite a bit. It's not a brilliant episode by any means, but it's definitely one of the most consistently hilarious episodes in the occasionally-lacking season 6A. Zapp is spot-on, for the most part, and some of Leela's delirious musings are among my favorite lines ever ("So thirsty...why couldn't a water fountain have fallen on me?"). All the censorship-is-silly stuff with V-GINY is a bit juvenile, but I think almost everything that happens in "Eden" between Zapp and Leela is pretty great (also, I think that act one by itself is among the most classic-feeling things the show's done since its revival).

...But yeah, I know I'm mostly alone in that opinion.

Simple: Both had the basic plot -"The only" humans on a planet, forced mating by a higher power-. Even with the forced mating being rather a punchline in IaGGDL, these plots would have been still to similar to both fit into a 13 episode season.

My personal preference: Cancel IaGdL, and let them crash on that alien Zoo planet during a normal delivery. (But of course it's always easy to say that in hindsight).

I think there's plenty of room in the zoo concept to do it without forced mating.

But yeah, I get what you're saying.

No comment on the "worst episode".
About "Fry turning out like that": His brain and regeneration were altered in an unnatural way, so there's probably no natural way for Fry to gain that.
His muscles were stimulated in a mere mechanical way (nothing unnatural there), so regarding physical shape, strength, etc... of the PL Fry should be the normal Fry's possible, but "unactivated" potential.

You all are crazy! My three suns has it all! its one of the funniest episodes. its super awsome. parts of it are sad and the part where bender punches fry in the stomach to make the emperor shut up, makes me die no matter what mood I'm in. By far my favorite.

Ehhh Leela's Homeworld worked for discovering what she really was, but as far as entertainment value I would say it's on the lower end of that scale.

Back around second and third season, my favorite episode was Parasites Lost followed by Amazon Women in the Mood. Then we got Roswell That Ends Well, The Farnsworth Parabox, 300 Big Boys, Spanish Fry, and more recently The Late Philip J. Fry and Law and Oracle.

This is my first post :). I really love the idea of Fry being the Mighty One and the potential for great episodes from that. I really hope they do more focusing on that in the future. I'm also super shippy, and love Fry...so any episodes to this nature are my faves too. I love The Why of Fry, The Day the Earth Stood Stupid, Roswell that Ends Well, The Sting, Parasites Lost, Love and Rocket, Time Keeps on Slippin', 300 Big Boys, Rebirth, The Late Philip J. Fry, The Sting, Bender's Big Score, Into the Wild Green Yonder, Devils Hands are Idle Playthings, Insane in the Mainframe (I just cannot resist poor unshaven freaked out Fry...and BEEP,BEEP, BEEP), Leela's Homeworld, Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles. I think that's all.
