Oh, I think they left some room for the Fry/Leela relationship to grow without screwing up the show. I agree though, that if you're going to have a wedding day or something permanent like that, save it for the series finale. To a previous poster who said Fry and Leela are too different to be together...I disagree. It's kind of because of those differences that they should be together. They both have gaps in their personalities that the other one fills. They're like two incomplete jigsaw puzzles, each having pieces that the other is missing.

I think you could continue the series with Fry and Leela's relationship continuing as usual. After all, when I saw Parasites Lost and Time Keeps on Slippin', I wondered how things could possibly return to normal. But they did.
If they had to acknowledge their relationship, perhaps the return of one of Fry's old flames could help us out. Umbriel could somehow become human and return to the land, intent on reconciling with Fry. Fry finds himself a bit torn, and could for some reason choose Umbriel. It could be another sad ending in which Umbriel rejects Fry, leaving Leela bitter and Fry back at square one. It could end with one of those optomistic notes. Lots of plotholes there, but the writers are creative people.
Other storylines I would like to see: Another episode with Roberto, maybe joining the Robot Mafia and becoming a formidable threat to Bender. LaBarbara could become lonely due to her husband being an obvious workaholic, throwing the family into disarray. Kif (sarcastic Kif, not wimpy Kif) could finally tell Zapp off, and go AWOL, hiding out with Amy. And of course, more Anthology's of Interests (what if life was more like Star Wars?) and further adventures with the Nibblonians.
This show actually has the potential to remain better longer than the Simpsons. Consider what they have done within the restrictions of a single small town and four rather static characters. Now imagine what Futurama could do with an entire futuristic universe as and seven quirky characters.
All we have to do is try to get it back on...

I think that an episode centered on Bender's history would be great. if they could make it something along the lines of "Luck of the Fryrish" in plot, it could be great.
