I really like this ep, I love it when Zapp falls for Lee Lemon (Leela) Fry is a cute hero, And Bender looks so yummy in that outfit, Oh and I love the scene where Bender said:

"If they put me on a stamp, tell them to use a young Bender" awwww

One of the best episode from season 3 easily, too bad for you americans who were cut by that republican slut  :) In canada we had everything perfectly, I loved the whole episode, but the bomb shouldn"t have exploded at the end, it's those kind of weird endings I hate from the simpsons

It's a very funny ep. Everything what happens is funny. The inverventions of Zapp and Kif in the 3rd season are really cool! The story isn't great, but, who cares, I was laughing all the time. B+

"I got wheels! With clickety-clackers!" -- Bender

I loved this episode, I laughed tons when me and Bender01 went to watch it over at his house  :) I think it had some of the funniest jokes in a Futurama episode, and the quotes... Hell! Out of 10, I'd give it a 10!

I didn't like this episode, the war as so pointless, Nixon was a good guy, Kif was a jerk and how come no one saw through Leela's pathetic disguise? I mean, in "Rabbit Fire" (1951), Elmer rather quickly saw through Bugs and Daffy's disguises. Does this mean Elmer is smarter than Fry, Bender, Zapp and Kif. Fry was the only one who seemed in character. Zoidy actually wasn't funny in this ep., instead iHawk stole the show. The Professy and Amy were barely in this ep. I really hate war, and this ep. kinda portrayed positively (if with just a bit of satire). I would have liked it if it ended with some anti-war disclamer, like Bart the General did, even if was only a text message. To end this post on a positive note, I'll say what I DID like about this episode:

The guy saying "War were declared" after war was declared.

Saying Nixon was the original Gerber baby.

Bender: "...tell them put to use the young Bender."

As I said earlier, iHawk rocked.

Quote
Nixon was a good guy
What the... the man who set up one of his soldiers to destroy the entire planet and kill every last ball? The guy who ordered the invasion of a planet with no resources worth taking? What episode were you watching?

And it's most definately anti-war... if you couldn't pick that up from the numerous stuff scattered throughout ('Employee of the Month', "While others were fighting and dying pointlessly..." the entire Starship Troopers feel about the first third of it (book, not movie) and the M*A*S*H feel about the second act (an anti-war show if ever there was one), then I'm afraid that you, sir, are an idiot. And I guess they could have put a big 'REMEMBER! WAR IS BAD! BAD BAD BAD BAD!' disclaimer at the end, but I don't like having my intelligence insulted, do you?

In any case, top ep. Utterly hilarious, some of the best references (The irreverent/maudlin switch...   :laff: ) far too many ball jokes (not that I minded), and the word 'Pimpmobile,' which is now one of my favourite words ever.

The anti-war subtext is there if you care to look. We all know how crooked Nixon is and how inept Zapp Brannigan is, and as for the rest of the soliders, well, they were just following orders, weren't they? Sound like a familiar scenario to anyone?

Me gusta mucho.  Bender's top 10... Kif bossing Fry around... not to mention one of the most memorable Zapp quotes ever!

Zapp: "The key to victory is the element of surprise.  SURPRISE!" *dumps everyone out of the ship*

Zapp: "Dammit Kif, where's the little umbrella?  That's what makes it a scotch on the rocks!"  (Side note: one of my friends has this as his MSN screen name.)

Oh yeah, and when he reads Bender's Top 10 list, I crack up every time he says "shiny."  Probably the way he says it.

One of my favourite episodes, because of the impressive visuals, iHawk and the twist on the classic "Cross-dresser attracts interest of same sex" theme. I only wish that the donkey had been given an introduction, as he is seen in later shots with no explanation until Kif is seen riding it in the last act.

Hmmm...I thought that iHawk was funny, of course. I also liked Fry's quote: "War has made me into a man...WHEEE!" while bouncing on one of the balls. Also, "antiquing". Genius. Pure, utter genius.

already explained,but...
the Gerber baby is the picture of the baby on the container of Gerber baby food. It is actually an urban legend that Humphrey Bogart was the Gerber baby (not true) and Fmr.Pres. Reagan is rumored to have been in the running for Bogart's Casablanca part...I didn't get the Nixon joke, but after searching I found that weird connection. What is that joke supposed to mean?
BTW...everything in the show is "some American thing"...it's an American show. I would think the fact that they constantly have frmr American president's featured would be a clue.

OK, big geek reference, but the Zapp-"Lee Lemon" romance is straight (so to speak) out of Shakespeare's _Twelfth Night_.  The idea of a woman masquerading as a man is centuries if not millennia old.  And WITHW falls right in that category.

As to the enemies being balls...  Well, as they say on the commentary, that's an embarassment of riches for writers looking for jokes.  They even had to tone it down!  (And the funniest joke, IMHO, is the final decision they made for Henry Kissinger's line -- "This is not a productive area of discussion." -- after two days of writers pitching possible yet dubious ball jokes for him.)

My favorite part, though (besides "antiquing" -- heh heh -- boom!) is the act-ending line, "The key to victory is the element of surprise. SURPRISE!"  Talk about a moment that makes you want to return after the commercials!

One of my gripes with this episode is Zapp not getting time before Nixon opens his piehole to comment about Lemon's peculiarity below the neck. Another 3 more seconds, and this episode would have scored 95%
