Why not, Its not as if I've got anything better to do, and if doing this can help, it would be almost criminal not to.

We'd need to set an official date though, so people from overseas can send their letters a few days earlier. Do you guys in the U.S. have a postal service on the weekend? Because if mail only gets delivered on weekdays there (like it does here), we could all send it near the end of the previous week, so the letters all arrive early the next week.

If not, it doesn't matter - I'm just pitching suggestions and asking questions. If we want to pull this off correctly, we'd need to go over every possibility.

FYI (because I'm with Col. Klink on this one), if you really want to get noticed send every letter recorded delivery (so somebody has to sign for it)...

Minor typos/grammatical errors corrected for your convenience:

To whom it may concern,
In August 2003 your fine network aired the last episode in season 5 of a show called Futurama. It has recently come to my attention that this was the final episode to enter production, and the series has been cancelled. I believe that this was a grave mistake, not only from the point of view of the show’s fans but also from a marketing point of view.

First off, if one was to go over the Nielsen ratings for the show while it was on the Fox Network, a trend can be seen to have developed. The rating for the second season premiere, "A Flight To Remember" on Sunday, September 22, 1999 was 7.3, higher than the Fox Network's average prime-time rating of 6.0 for the week of March 22 to March 28, 2004. Futurama continued to draw a larger audience than the Fox Network's current average prime time rating for new episodes until February 26, 2000 when the episode titled "Why Must I Be a Crustacean in Love?" drew a 4.2 rating. Notice that this was the first week that the show was placed in the 7:00 Eastern time slot, rather than the 8:30 time-slot that season 2 premiered in. Had Futurama been left in the 8:30 Eastern time-slot it would have continued to draw ratings in the 6-8 range. This would have allowed the Fox Network to set higher rates for advertisers, which would have been more profitable for Fox and it's shareholders.

Ratings however, are not everything. It is well known that Futurama is a more expensive show to produce than other Fox hits such as "Malcolm In The Middle", and "That '70s Show", but one also has to look at the situation from a marketability standpoint. Futurama being at it's core very adventure oriented show <either “a very adventure orientated show” or “very adventure oriented” would be suitable here> has much more marketability in the lucrative video game’s market. Recent studies show that 45 million American homes own a video game system, which creates a massive market for Fox Interactive to sell well-developed Futurama video games into. Besides video games, Futurama action figures have increased marketability over action figures based on non-animated Fox properties. Much like "The Simpsons" Futurama features outlandish colorful characters which are likely to appeal to children. If a well distributed line of Futurama action figures were released it may prove to be a profitable venture for Fox and its share holders.

Finally, if more seasons of Futurama were produced Fox Home Entertainment could also profit through DVD sales. Data from various sources indicates that Futurama Season DVD sets sell fairly well as it is, but if the series had the increased exposure of being aired on the Fox Network on a regular basis the DVDs would have the potential to sell much better.

These points show the endeavor of bringing an established show like Futurama back to network television, can prove to be very profitable to the Fox network.
Best Regards

We do hvae mail delivery here on weekends, but only on Saturday. Anyhow, having all the letters come at different times...say... whithin a week, might not be so bad. A daily influx of many many letters is sure to turn some heads.

Website 1.0 up. Very crappy at the moment, just the basic info and layout. It should have a huge update sometime tomorrow, and yes there will be more than just one page, and the frame on the side will serve a purpose. I'm tired now, I'll fix the grammer etc tomorrow. So in other words stay tuned for tommorow, for a massive update which will hopfully un-crapify the site.

Thanks for the grammer edits Digital Dragon! :)

Still working on the site overhaul, but if you want to sign up for the campaign,or help in any other way, read the FAQ on the site : http://www.futuramalettercampaign.tk
Don't mean to be anal or anything but this needs to be organized if there's going to be any chance of it working at all, so you need to send an email the the adress in the FAQ on the site : http://www.futuramalettercampaign.tk so I can make up the master list of email adresses, give people the details when they're all hammered out, and notify people when the sending date is determined. 7-12 people said they were signing up for it in this thread, and so far I've only gotton 3-4 emails.

Furthermore, you can help by adding a link to the site in your sigs on other message boards, or putting a link up on your homepage (if you have one).

Newhook...I believe the problem is with your email hyperlink on your site. If my HTML knowlege doen't fail me, I believe you need to get rid of the two frontslashes before the email address. It should only be "mailto:______" insted of "mailto://_____".

Did you just click the email address on the site? If so, just copy the email address from the site, or click it and get rid of the //

There aren't really enough participants to do much yet, so it's not looking good. The plan is for the first newsletter to go out after about 50 people sign up. Right now there are about 15 signed up. :(

Unlike an online petition, this will no doubt harass Fox studios with piles of paper. If we can get 5000+ papers to fly into their studios, I do believe they'll do something about it, unlike one petition with 5000+ signatures.
