I never knew him, but from what I hear, he was great. We will always remember you, Sarge.

I never knew Sarge as well, but I look up to him since he was involved with Futurama. By the way you guys talk about him, it seems he is a really great guy, and I would like to send my regards to all of his friends and family.

I've never heard of him, but if he worked on Futurama then he was a great man.

Sarge was a dirty, creepy old man.  In fact, that's why we loved him.

Sarge was way before my time, but the way I hear him spoken about and remembered he strikes me as a really great guy.  I think it was very cool that he was involved in Futurama and also came to PEEL to mingle amongst the fans.   Thanks to Sarge and all those that came before for keeping PEEL alive.

my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Bender: "He's up in Heaven, animating angels now."

This sucks. I only was around for a little of Sarge's merriment, but he was always a treat when he was here.  I'm going to miss the silly guy.

Aw, geez. Sad to hear it. I'm just glad I was around for what seemed to be a momentary reappearance not long after I started being a PEEL regular. Great stuff.

Guys, it may be a trick after all.

I posted this around the No Homers Club and one member took the liberty of checking it out (I think they e-mailed his semi-private message board, and apparently got an e-mail back).  Here's what they posted:

"From: ellim@cactusimaging.com.au
Subject: re: sarge dead?
Date: March 31 2004 10:19:06 PM
To: (NHC member's e-mail taken out in case)

Well considering he posted at his board yesterday and I am sure today he is fine...!"

Bell originally posted that he died a few days ago, while someone at his semi-private message board said he posted yesterday, and as it is so close to April first, the general consensus is it's a fake.

I'm as relieved as I've ever been!

Except for that one time when I drank a super-size Pepsi on a road trip and had to piss like a racehorse. Definitely top 5, though.

Good work, Sarge! Way to be not dead!  :D

A tasteless joke, but I'm not sure when I was last so happy to be made a fool of.

I just hope we can have 100% confirmation soon.

I'd like to see the obit, too. Who is Bell & who is John Martin? (Stop calling Rough Draft. They don't have time for this shit. And way to make an entire board community sad. Asshole.)
This rumor apparently started in January, believe it or not. I was unaware till Rough Draft called me yesterday to see if I was still alive.

Pitiful.  I'm guessing that Bell may in fact be Andy Kaufman, which should mean he'd have plenty of practise faking deaths and making unfunny jokes.

Sarge - I knew all along you weren't really dead.  You're a sad old bastard, which means you should be around till your nineties.  ;)

That's how you know you're famous! It'll be all over the cover of a tabloid in a few days. Congratulations on not being dead. And congratulations to me for being cynical and untrusting and not believing it in the first place!

...and then there's this one.   :nono:

Anyway, I'm glad that you aren't dead, Sarge; but you really should have used this opportunity to fake your death.  Just think, you could have avoided tax day.   :p

Well, haven't actually spoken to you at all, Sarge, but it's always good to hear that someone isn't dead. You'll always hold a special place in my heart, right next to Paul MaCartny and Saddam Hussein.

Just not a funny joke. Something like "Hety Futurama is coming back for real this time!, I talked to Billy West last night and he told me", is more predictable. I think it draws the line of good taste when you say that someone is dead and they aren't. It bummed out alot of people on the board,

so in short not cool.

A very sick joke indeed. I'm just wondering who this prat is spreading these rumours (esp. if they're not just confined to this board) and why, apart from satisfying a tasteless sense of humour  :nono:

I was going to post an April Fools joke that I interviewed Matt Groening and David Cohen about Futurama being in pre-production and airing on Cartoon Network this fall.

But it sounds like everyone's had enough April Fools to last all day.

So I'll just say hi from a Futurama fan.
