Can anyone tell me if there's a specific reason why Zap is always going on about velour, other than it being innately funny? Like if there's a bit of trivia behind it, or something I missed from the first series

There's nothing like the feel of a "velour" uniform rubbing round your crotch   mmmmm.....  :flirt:

Guess he just loves that feeling you only get from velour clothes.

BTW, Welcome to PEEL.  :)

Probably because you can say 'velour' in a way which is erotic. EROTIC.

It's because the uniforms on the original Star Trek were made of velour.

Because velour is a knock-off of velvet...

Wait a minute, this thread isn't about VF at all! What a let-down.

I could be wrong, but velour isn't exactly a manly fabric and Zapp consider himself quite the ladies man, so for him to wear velour... He should've worn something made out of Rockwool, now there's a shirt with some chesthair.

Well he wears velour because it makes him feel sexy, but from its use on this shows and others it has more of a reputation of being sort of a pervy fabric or something you'd wrap your couch in. Just another demonstration of Zapp's hilarious combination of haughtiness, overcompensation and cluelessness. And how can you not love a pantsless outfit? Specially on Kif..

Buchmeister, I concur. I might try it on the next man I meet.
Thanks for the welcome nerdilingus!
Also, Action Jackson I'm sorry to disagree here, but the original uniforms look more like a cotton/lycra blend. Less sexy, but who needs to wear sexy clothes when you're William Shatner?

Velour might not be manly now but it might be in a thousand years.

I too am disappointed that this thread wasn't about the lovely VF   ;)

You will still be wrong,  do the research I've known this since the seventies. :/

Even the "official" replicas are velour.

I find it incredibly disturbing that someone sized XXXL has the opportunity for wearing velour.
I've learnt something, but at the same time feel dirty :/

Kif didn't exactly seem thrilled about wearing velour. "I suppose captain, but I'm not as big a fan of [dripping with contempt]velour[/dwc] as you are."For some the stigma lingers, then again Zapp is stupid so he probably got it all wrong. "Baby, wait! You didn't show me your surprise!"
