If Futurama comes back on fox and they have to cancel a show to air it I hope they cancel king of the hill. I hate that show with a passion. It's so BORING!

I think it might even be the Simpsons. Groening's Simpson contract ends in 2005, so who knows.

P/S I do hope its King of the Hill though. F'n Hicks.

i dunno how bad the ratings are but if they're as bad as some of the new episodes, Simpsons is doomed. DOOOOOOOOOMED!

Does anyone know how the ratings have been for the simpsons?

Yes, it died and was resurrected by voodoo FOX witch doctors. Now its a dry zombified husk of its former self.

Actually, I just don't really watch the Simpsons anymore, so I really can't rate its quality, I just thought that was funny.

If Simpsons was taken off the air I wouldnt mind because if you ask me, which you do  :p, The Simpsons has had its time in the spotlight and with new episodes not being that great, at least it would leave before people got REALLY sick of it.

By the way, if somehow I ever become a really rich guy, I will try and revive Futurama- thats if it doesnt come back (which we all pray it does)

Plus for everyone that lives in the U.K there is going to be a whole evening of futurama this friday on Sky one and there have been new adverts for Futurama

All signs point to a futurama rebirth!

You know what i think might be happening! With all the advertisement now on Sky One for this evening of Futurama i think they might be testing the rating for it! If they get enough viewers then there is a possibility they might bring the show back! Plus they have just got a huge amount of money for the Cartoon network thing and the whole thing about Family Guy making a comeback plus DVD sales are amazingly high! You know what! I think this may finally be it!

isn't sky1 a british channel? i don't think they would test an american show on a british channel to decide whether or not to bring it back.

Yep, sky1 is britains channel for "quality" american shows.
I think Futurama was quite popular in Britain anyways right up until just before the series finished and they have been playing regular repeats since then.
But considering FOX's slant on anything TV related I'd agree with Venus on this although it is a nice idea  :)

Didn't know there was an evening of Futurama on last night though!

Wouldnt it be cheaper though to test out things like that on a smaller network though,  so they might decide to test a show on a smaller scale, so if it does flop, they have lost less money

Good thinking. I hope so. And In U.S.A it's on CN everynight and an amazing number of people watch it.. FOX is loosing so much money by not having Futurama on. If they want to be the best, for Petes sake..BRING IT BACK!  :finger:

If Futurama came back, I'd give up the Simpsons or King of the Hill. But those two shows are much better than anything Fox has in the live action department. It's not as good as Futurama, but I'd take "Rusty Shackleford" over Simon any day.

Yeah, it's cheaper, but Futurama is the property of FOX, and their prime interest lies with the American market. And they already have (fantastic) ratings from a smaller network (well, cable, but you know what I mean); Cartoon Network.

But Futurama have always been popular in the UK, so it's probably just Sky1 that decided to run a special of a popular program to up their ratings.

Yeah I'm hoping that FOX might get a bit embarrasssed by C.N. by them giving up such a great and popular show. I'm sure thats what happened with Family Guy too. When you see a small network (C.N) getting great ratings for Futurama and Family Guy, I think FOX might get jealous and resign Futurama for new episodes. Well at least thats what i hope.

Yes, I agree. FOX's notoriously poor handling of promo for Futurama has got to look even more shameful when they see the piss-poor (money-wise) Cartoon Network making it work even better. Both Groening and David Cohen mention something like this in the commentaries, too. Imagine if FOX gave Futurama the same promotion they give to some of their vomit-inducing reality shows?

Ah good old False Hope. Well if Fox actually cared about their viewers, Family Guy and Futurama never would have been canceled to begin with. I really hope it comes back, but I still am a tad skeptical but deep down, I believe.........

After checking the Sky TV guide for this Friday, it seems that you've misunderstood what is happening. They're not actually showing a whole evening of Futurama but rather two episodes at 7:00 on Friday which I assume will become the regular timeslot. It's still an improvement on the old timeslot of 9am Saturday (Or whatever it has been recently, I haven't watched Futurama on TV since getting the final DVD) and is a pretty good timeslot overall, especially for reruns of a cancelled show (In fact, The Simpsons used to be shown then - that's been pushed back an hour).

As for the idea of FOX using this to test the ratings ready for a comeback, I doubt it. FOX have no direct control over what Sky show or at what time and anyway they'd be testing the wrong audience - good UK veiwing figures do not neccessarily mean the same in the US. Still, if people want a bit of false hope, there is a remote chance that Sky are testing the viewing figures before they buy the show and commission new episodes.

To get back to the Wired article, I found a line I thought was interesting:

"Last year, Futurama and Family Guy reruns did so well that it's likely both shows (which Fox killed in prime time) will produce new episodes."

Also, I think that since April Fool's Day is tomorrow, no one post any false hope as a joke. That's incredibly lame and the equivilant of telling a crippled man he'll be able to walk as an April Fool's joke.

Seeing as Family Guy is set to come out with new Eps in about 2005, I would say that if they do air it on FOX, that it replaces either The Simpsons(not likely) or KOtH.
