Maybe i'm just being very stupid here and i know loads of people are trying to petition to get Futurama back and i know there is not much chance for it to come back but hypothetically if they got a sponsor like the Simpsons has Dominos pizza then would it HYPOTHETICALLY be able to come back online?

What?
Does this mean the only reason the Simpsons is "online" is because of Dominos?
We've tried many many petitions, we've tried emails, we've tried backing the creators, but to no avail. I shall repeat this very slowly.
Futurama is DEAD.
We are very sorry that it is DEAD.
It has been dead for YEARS.
Get on with your LIFE.

They would have to convince that sponsor that the money invested into the show would be worth it, which would be difficult for a $1 million-an-episode animated sci-fi comedy show.

What sponsor would want to throw money away on a show that's already been cancelled?  Sorry, but it just wouldn't make good business sense.

Welcome to PEEL anyway, Sm@ Cpt. Libido.   big grin

Welcome to PEEL! Oh, and there's nothing wrong with a little optimism.

Anyway, at one point there was an online petition with over 100,000 signatures on it that was sent to Fox, but as you can see, it didn't sway the network's decision to cancel the show.

Dominos Pizza only sponsors the Simpsons in the UK on Sky.  I'm not sure what the arrangement is in the US.

Dominos, I believe, is a sponsor of the show here in the US. I know that it's a sponsor of a few Fox shows, and I think that that's one of them.

In that case I stand corrected.

But I don't think having a particular sponsor attached to the show is the issue, because I doubt the sponsor would cover all the production costs.

You're probably right. A sponsor pays the network, but definitely not enough to bring back a million dollar per episode show.

The only realistsic way for Futurama to return is if a network with a)the money and b)the inclination buys the rights off FOX.  CN have the inclination but not the money.  The big networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) easily have the money (NBC are saving $5 million a week now Friends is over!), but have the same mentality as FOX, so it's likely they view Futurama as a failure as well.

The Simpsons also used to do the Butterfinger commercials, don't know if they still do though.

We're all very regretful that FOX cancelled Futurama, but it was just so long ago. There have been soooo many "Save Our Show: A Future For Futurama!" threads that they've lost all meaning.

I love Futurama, too, but this really won't get it back.

Welcome to PEEL, anyway. Enjoy it here.  smile
