I think Apocalyptica's song "Path" would be good for something or other. It's an instrumental but it's fast paced.

Better yet, Kif singing Air Supply's "All Out of Love" at a karaoke bar of some form or another.

I'd also want to use Superman (It's not Easy) by Five for Fighting

I would also use America Pie, just because it is a really good song.

Fry seems to think it sucks.

"We could sing american pie."
"Go ahead, i deserve it."

I want to have the song, Men At Work's "Down Under" for some scene of PE crew delivering some to Austrailia or some Outback planet.

How about swapping the Beastie Boys for NWA and have them singing 'Straight Outta Compton'

Evanescence' music is bad and you should feel bad! (Also, Blink 182 can suck satans nose in hell!)

Just cause it's mainstream doesn't mean it's bad. And just cause i like some mainstream music doesn't mean i'm a record company slave. i listen to bunch of stuff that's not mainstream, mostly new age and instrumental. I'm listening to songs from the Cirque Du Soleil show Dralion right now.

I didn't say they sucked, I said they were shit. I despise their blatant melodrama (both sonically and lyrically), their uninspiring song structures and their unimaginative, unevocative sound in general. And their videos are just as bad.

Second, but let's not make this into an Evanescance bashing thread. I would have liked to hear some more of Mr Tyng's fine musical score.
Or more Disco, I liked the Hustle scene in Jurassic Bark.

I don't hate emotion. I just hate the fact that with a lot of bands it's all they have. Yeah, emotion's all well and good but for fucks sake, can't someone do something interesting with it for once?

You know something funny? I keep listening to music and saying man, this should be a music video! The scene could work, that'd be cool! Now, if I could only make one and had the space and capability to grab and store specific moments.  :(

I think they could have used Cake's 'Frank Sinatra' in there somewhere really well, and anything by Air.  Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio as well.  But I agree with what a bunch of ppl have said, Christopher Tyng's instrumental stuff is AMAZING.

Nooooo!! So what your saying is that that piece of music needs a video to distract you from how crap it really was.

Just a dig at music vids in general, music is a medium for your ears, its like books in braille - just not quite right.

We need more awesome/corny eighties songs. I will not be appeased until Africa appears on the show somewhere. Or Love My way. Or I Ran(So Far Away). Or Come On Eileen.
Luck of the Fryrish and Futurestock were a good start... now take it all the way!

And Evanesance does indeed suck. Let this be the last word on the matter!  :p

oy vey.

sometimes i think everyone wants eighties music on the show more because simple minds - (don't you) forget about me worked SO WELL at the end of luck of the fryish.  but it works so well not only cause its a great song its own, but because of the breakfast club thing running through the episode.

Do you think there would be a PEEL in Braille site?   :laff:

I enjoyed the 80's music in the show if only because I like the music from that decade.
So little time to use so many more tracks, if the show went on for a couple more seasons you could have probably made a 80's soundtrack to the show CD.

Yeah, a soundtrack CD would have been awesome.
I always thought the music on Futurama was great, especially American Breed's "Bend me, Shape me" in Bendless Love fits in great Donovan with a special version of Atlant(-a/-is) was also brilliant. It's a pity they had no time to make more eps, damn FOX.

There sould also have been a version of The Who's - "Behind blue eyes" on it, but with a title like "Behind one eye" acording to Leela.

I would use, Smash Mouth's "Allstar".  It's been used on other soundtracks, but I can picture it on an episode of Futurama.  Or maybe, "I'm A Believer" if they did a Shrek parody.  I also would've used "Take Me Breath Away" by Berlin.

Some 80s stuff would proably be best to add in, linking in with Fry's life. Please no Tatu or any crap pop stuff.

First, the old buisness:
- instrumentals and all of Christopher Tyng's work is sw'awsome
- I think everyone's happy that we're no longer debating about wheither Evanesence rocks out loud or sucks noodles

Now, the new buisness:

- I agree with Digital Dragon, they have to stick some BNL in there somewhere. I think the song "Second Best" could fit into a variety of situations. A bit of a stretch would be to have the song "Alunimum" in a sappy, Bender-centric ep.

- "Hey Jude" by the Beatles is a positive must for a shippy ep. Seriously, that song is the best.

- I believe someone mentioned wanting to put in "I'm On My Way" by The Proclaimers; might I suggest "500 Miles" instead? It has more energy and I don't think it's been over used as of late. ( unless you count the comercials for Molsen Canadian a few years back)

- Lastly, some vague suggestions. More Rush and maybe try on a little Great Big Sea for size. Go Canadian celt-pop!

This being a show set in the future, I couldn't believe that there wasn't more techno! I think that good eurotrance could've been throughout the whole thing.  ;)

I agree with you on your second point in this statement.  However, I believe that "Something" and "The Long and Winding Road" would be even more appropriate for a shippy ep.

I would put "In The End", "Numb" by Linkin Park for a Fry loses Leela scene. If some lyrics in "Pushing Me Away" were changed it would work there, too. SPace travel and fighting music could be "Papercut" and "Faint" also by Linkin Park would work. Fast. REALLY fast. Notice a pattern?
