Coincidence?

Star Trek had 72 Episode and Futurama does too.. Coincidence?   

(I am sorry is this has been previously discussed because I am a "n00b" in your opinion.

Star Trek had 80 episodes. Or possibly 79 depending on whether the 2-part episode The Menangerie counts as one or two. Or 78 if you don't count the pilot episode featuring a different crew.

"The Menagerie" should count as two episodes, because it was originally a two parter.  Therefore it's 79 or 80, depending on whether you include "The Cage" or not.

TNG is usually stated as having 176 or 178 episodes, depending on whether you count the feature length "Encounter at Farpoint" and "All Good Things..." as one or two parters.  However "The Best of Both Worlds" and the other bona-fide two parters are always counted as two episodes.

If Futurama hadn't been cancelled, there would have been more....at least 2 seasons I reckon so it's not really coincidence....

I'd have thought that was perfectly obvious.  Practically EVERY cancelled show would've produced more episodes had they not been cancelled.

It's a moot point though.  Had both shows finished with an identical number of episodes it would've been a coincidence.  But they didn't, so it isn't.
