Giligan's Island is another show I really like and like Futurama it was loved by TV viewers, but the executive producers cancelled Giligan's Island just like FOX cancelled Futurama.  Do you notice any other similarities?

Okay, Fry is Gilligan, Bender is the Skipper, Leela is Ginger, Amy is Mary Ann, Amy's parents are the Howells, and the Professor is the Professor.

Also, Bender was stranded on an island once.

And like Gilligan's Island, much of the discussion about characters revolves around which of the females you would rather have.

And just like Gilligan's Island, they're both TV shows.  And they both have characters, and plots, and episodes, and a continuing story arc.
