What so you think of that commercial that cartoon network made for futurama?
personally, i think it's stupid. i mean, the commercial for family guy shows a fight scene. there are all of about 2 fight scenes in family guy. there are a few more, but still not a lot of fight scenes in futurama.
the commercial for futurama shows a lot of sex, basically. but there's actually very few actual scenes involving sex (AOI1, WMIBACIL), and only a handful of sex-related jokes. family guy has TONS of sex jokes.
what was CN thinking when they made these commercials?

I'd agree that it was a somewhat sketchy commercial, but I still found it amusing. Content aside, I though that it was pretty well put together graphically. And it could interest someone who hasn't see the show before. Plus, ok commercials are better then no commercials at all right?

It's a golden rule in showbiz that the content of comercials/trailers/previews have no connection whatsoever with the actual plot of the show/episode. You should see some of the previews for Star Trek a few years back.

At any rate, it's great that CN even care enough to promote the show. And remember sex sells.  ;)

I actually really dig this ad.  I was gonna start a thread about it when I first saw it, but I'd been drinking, and that would violate my rule to never ever do anything when I've been drinking...

Anyway, I thought it was immensely clever to use the old '50's horror movie teaser format, and I thought it was funny.  I mean, they're not so much trying to use sex to sell the show, as make fun of the practice of using sex to sell TV shows.

What do all the titles say?  I can't remember them anymore.

It's kinda like FOX making promos, but much worse, as they choose the worst jokes for their Simpsons promos. (IE: "I, D'oh!bot" with the spring-activated first aid kit. NOT FUNNY.)

Sigh, poor adverts for shows are everywhere I fear. Some of the DVD adverts I found on my last season 4 disc were quite cringeworthy.

I haven't seen the ad or anything but 'Spanish Fry' is just one long sex joke really!
I know Nixorbo has already said that but I just think it's really funny!

Also in "A Head in The Polls", there is the Clinton Monument next to the Washington monument....if you catch my drift.

I haven't seen the promo in a while, but I remember being surprised by the fact that they finally came out with a Futurama commercial (I think there's been a Family Guy one on since August). Maybe the extra publicity will get more people watching the show.

While it may be a little cheesy, I find the commercial is quite captivating. Also Teral's right. Sex does sell.

Any publicity is good publicity. Even if the commercial was a little bad...

I like the commercial.  It has that whole retro sci-fi thing going.

The music used for the commercial was used in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

i wasn't saying they shouldn't have made the commercial, i'm glad they did, but they could have done a better job of it.

and in reference to my first post, about how many sex scenes/jokes, i mean, compare it with family guy. every other joke in family guy seems to be a sex joke! so naturally, they used a fight scene. then for futurama, which has few sex jokes in comparison, they make the commercial pretty much all about sex.

it makes perfect sense!

It was o.k, but not really that good.  :)

I love cartoon network. They have pretty good shows, and they took in futurama. I am very happy, and i cant wait till monday to watch futurama.

I am very hiper, so im going to add my favorite commercial jingle:

'Doo doo doo, doo-doo, do-Wah!' > > It doesn't matter what comes, fresh goes better in life, > and Mentos is fresh and full of life. > > Nothing gets to you, staying fresh staying cool, > with Mentos, fresh and full of life. > > Fresh goes better, Mentos freshness, fresh goes better > with Mentos, fresh and full of life! > > Mentos, the freshmaker!

also, 'zeep', i love your icon. (i think they call them icons) Wasnt that icon when zoidberg goes "im coming down!!!"

well, the jesus one, that's the only one that's a commercial for futurama SPECIFICALLY, not just all the shows on [as].

in a related matter, there's a new commercial that uses two clips from futurama: fry with edna, and fry and amy in amy's car. again, they're definately gearing it towards sex, but hey.
As they say, any publicity is good publicity. except for bad publicity...

Um...This one commercial is what got my friend into Futurama in the first place. (Me already being a Futurama-junkie) She saw it when I taped sumthin' for her...I think it had something to do with Bender being distracted by a robot hooker or something... *Can't remember* It only lasted all of 2 seconds, too. Which one are y'all talking about?
