I had something else here originally, but I decided to change it.

Basically, what I would do is have Fry ask Leela out, but this time, Leela is so fed up with Fry's attempts to sway her that she snaps at him and Fry feels horrible and goes to a suicide booth to meet his demise. Then after Leela feels all guilty she does the same thing. Then when Bender has no friends, he does the same thing as well. I would also have Zoidberg knock Hermes into a fire and then eat him. All the meanwhile, the Professor would be in the process of making another doomsday device, and then it explodes, killing everyone in New New York, and setting off his other doomsday devices, causing them to drill holes down to the Earth's inner core causing all the world's volcanoes to erupt at the same time, causing massive earthquakes until the Earth's crust breaks off and the planet is covered in smoldering lava that kills everyone. Then Morbo flies away in his ship laughing and becomes emperor of the Milky Way galaxy.

Because that last episode sucked. I'm sorry, but it was the only one I really really didn't like. I'm sick of seeing stuff like this turning the world into a bunch of wimps. You might as well watch Friends. We have an oil crisis that's going to kill billions before the century ends, and we somehow settle for this romantic shit. Please.

So what?  You think that by ending futurama with the planet exploding it will make people stop and think.  Of course, we've all been so stupid.  That would solve world hunger, the problems in the middle east, northern ireland.  It will stop the murder of countless people every day.
You sir are an idiot.

Why and HOW would you blow up the Earth in a finale? No one wants to see the main charecters die.

Heh heh... Blake 7. Double heh heh... Mostly Harmless.

I agree with whoever said that ending was ok 'cept for the lack of secondary character stuff... considering that it was written to only be a possible ending to the show (50/50 chance of coming back, and all that) they did all right. Though a nonsensical cataclysm would be good to... oh, well, pretend that the game was the last episode. The three main charaters die and Mom takes over the earth.    :)   :)   :)

I'd leave a "To Be Continued" ending, something like Futurama comics #16, where after returning after a successful mission/episode they discover planet express has disappeared, blown up, burnt down, changed ala TFP etc etc (delete/make your own up  as appropiate)
Not a very practical ending to a series but one that'd keep me hanging on.   :)

I have to agree with Davie on this. Romance and oil crisis have nothing to do with each other. I have no idea how you made that correlation. Having the planet explode just wouldn't make sense. At least not in the political way you have in mind. Having the show end with earth exploding would not make me start contemplating the evils of society, and i doubt it would do it for anybody else. Killing everyone would just depress the audience, and that really wasn't what the creators/writers were going for.

I agree, it's depressing enough that it's ending! Why would anyone be comitting suicide?! That's horrible!  Ok, I'm done. I think that it should have given just a bit more insight into what happens later between Fry and Leela. The date idea was great. But, it should be left open-ended for the masses of fanfics. I rest my case.  :)

or the comic books. The've had the old script writer of Futurama write some of the issues, and it could continue where it left off...   :)

Yeah, but what if those who read the comics haven't seen the last episode? Well, that doesn't really matter, I can't find the comic anywhere, anyway. The only thing I have is the Futurama-O-Rama book.   :( But, if they had a follow-up that would be cool.   :D

If you want to know where you can buy the comics go to www.tcomics.com  under the simpsons section. I go there all the time.

I liked the open ended nature of the episode, and yet it still managed to provide closure. I saw pretty much all of the great background characters and most story arcs had an implied conclusion, without the writers painting themselves in the corner.

Benders last line was a bit odd though, but maybe that in itself was some sort of irony.

I dont think Fry should've died at the end, if he did the entire story would be over. By having an open-ended finale', Groening allowed the fans of the series to decide what happens next, via FanFics, Comics, etc.

I think that Woodbot 2.0's was good. IT should have ended like TROTK, it showed endings for each character.

i think they should have ended it like the did with mars u. when they showed the clips, froze them and had a little bit of writing underneath.

I don't know... that seems kind of tacky.

Plus it would mean it had a definite ending.

Fry and Leela would be married and have newly born kids and we'd know why Leela is the other.
Kif and Amy would be married.
Bender would take control of PE
Hermes would start to be nicer to Zoidberg, but with one day at a time.

Fry and leela never getting together is a good thing because it makes us anxious, and it would get tacky real quick if they did (kinda like the show FRIENDS ect.. ) i think zoidberg could be used a little more..

I think they coulda done abit of a reversal for the last episode, cos i was pretty sick of fry chasing after leela and her rejecting him flat.  It coulda started with fry getting rejected again and giving up, and then finding some other chick and start dating her instead.  Then leela would finally realise 'u don't know what its got till its gone' and try to win fry back maybe.  Make the girl work for it dammit!!!
And all the secondary characters shoulda had more closure, i think they deserve it.

The question was "how would you have ended it" and my answer would be that I wouldn't end it. At least I would not have ended it so soon. Why couldn't they keep making episodes?

I aint no Steven Spielberg but i think Bender should be doin' some cooking when Fry goes off to bed cos he's pissed off that Bender keeps barfing while he cooks so Fry goes to sleep and suddenly he gets shook awake when his parents wake him and it was all just a dream. That would be a really crap cruddy ending and so no 1 would like Futurama and i'd be the only 1 who watches it and i;'d be a true coolest fan.

They did that in a famous soap opera once. And also on Family Guy in "Da Doom". Those endings always suck ass.

Hmm, that is a nice idea. They ended the first episode with the ship flying into the distance in front of a nebula. It would have been nice to see a similar ending to the finale...

I thought that was an interesting episode of Family Guy. But if I was in a soap opera, I'd be the one in the coma. I took a test about that and that's what I got! Kool!  :D

They even got the actors from Dallas to re-enact that scene in "Da Boom."
