The Devil's Hands was all very nice and all but it certainly didn't score full marks on the the finalé-ometer.

So say you had to do the end the show, what would your finalé have been?

As for me I would have Zoidberg find out he's the direct heir to the Decapodian throne (he desevres a lucky break) aaaaaand, I'll have to think about the rest.

Hows about you?  :flirt:   :flirt:

I don't think I'd have chanaged much at all really, for me it was almost perfect. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that I always wanted every character from the entire show to have a cameo in the final ep. Kinda like a send-off. They all contributed to making the show what it is, and all deserve to be part of the final ep, even if it's less than a second in a crowd scene or something  :)

And why Nibbler wasn't present for a single scene is just stupid.

Devil's Hands is my favorite episode, so I don't think I would end it much differently. Maybe add this deleted scene I've been hearing about (where Fry asks Leela to go on a date) and get rid of the part where Leela goes, "Me? Really?!". I would've kept the buggalo leg thing, but that line just sounded terrible to me.

I wouldn't change much either. I like the open-ended quality of this episode. It does kinda give closure to the Leela-Fry-plot, but still leave it open enough for fans to continue where the show left off.

Maybe add something about Hermes family, or Cubert, but that's about it. And I agree we can cut the "Me? Really"-line, but not the buggalo-leg-eating (that was cute).

Devil's Hands was definately a good episode, so when I say it wasn't a great finalé I mean that it didn't really tie anything up (Which is good because allows the show to resume from where it left off.) so it doesn't make a great finalé. Y'know?

Bender and Zoidberg switch identities, Fry's head explodes, and Farnsworth dances with a moose.

Zoidberg and Hermes' finally duke it out in a winner-takes-all grudge match. If Zoidberg wins, he gets Hermes' job and pay. If Zoidberg wins, then uh, Hermes gets to eat him.

That's what I would've liked to have seen.

Why does everyone hate Zoidberg so much anyway? The only person who likes him is Fry.

zoidberg couldnt be a beurocrat, and hes always ruining stuff or messing stuff up or just stinking up the place, thats why they hate him.

I think there's no particular reason why they all hate him, they just do. The most likely reason is that it's funnier that way. And of course, he does bring his fair share of stink-level to the show.

Yeah, but Hermes' hatred for Zoidy seems to burn the most furiously of them all. That's a relationship I'd like to have seen explored further.

they go back and forth, it is all zoidbergs doing that hermes made it to the central beurocracy and found benders memory. so that was a good day for those two

True, they have their offdays. Still, I can't help but think that Hermes' rampant scapegoating would eventually cause Zoidberg to snap and want to snip Hermes' head off.

all right after all this zoidberg talk (edit: i wrote top istead of talk for some reason) i cant stop thinking about this and i wont be happy till i post about it, one of the greatest zoidberg moments is when he breaks prof's ship in a bottle and tries to blame fry by writing "i hate bottle" on his t shirt...not only is that hilarious but its hilarious that fry then actually wears it...oh mercy.

My preferred ending:
ORGY!!
Whether it be a cameo appearance by the band or the other... thing.
No, seriously: I am a little bit of a shipper, so I think it was a good ending as it was. In whatever case, an open ending with a bit of hope for the Fry/Leela relationship would be my choice.

I think the reason why the PE Crew hate Zoidberg is because he's so annoying.  Also, Zoidberg is poor, lonely, and wants to talk all the time.  Anyway, I would not end Futurama in any way.  If it were up to me, Futurama would go on for 20 more seasons!

20? Man...I don't agree with that! I do not want Futurama become like the Simpsons, so empty after so much time.  Simpsons are always on the same basis, and inviting famous people to the show was a mistake I think.  It's not cool at all seeing Blink 182 or U2 in the Simpsons. Futurama is no more, we must accept it !

I don't mind that the date bit was cut because I think it would have hurt the structure of the episode.  Anyway, she already agreed to go out with him in "The Farnsworth Parabox."  And what's wrong with the 'Me?  Really?' line?  She's just surprised and happy that someone would do something like that for her.

I dunno, something about that line makes me cringe. Maybe it's just the delivery, but I don't think that's the best they could do.

She's surprised?  Hasn't she been paying attention?  It's been obvious that Fry is in love with her since "Parasites Lost".  Why wouldn't he choose her to write an opera about?

There's a big difference between Fry just telling her he loves her and Fry writing an opera to show her how he feels.  Maybe people write operas for you all the time, but I'd be surprised if anyone wrote one for me.

I would have given it the most literal ending possible. I'm an american damnit and it takes a hell of a lot more to give me closure. I need to know EXACTLY how things end up or else I will become irritable.

So the ending would have been kind of like the sandlot.

"Zoidberg went into the military and died in nam"
"Fry did finally Marry Leela, they had 15 children"
"Bender became a bungee instructor, we all know why..."

something like that.

i agree with Coop, as an american who hates uncertainty, i want to know exactly what happened to everybody. i don't want to simply imagine that Fry and Leela got together, i want to know for a fact 100% that they did. I need closure damnit! I mean, even the X-Files eventually showed what happened to Samantha, and the X-Files was the master of stringing everyone along.

That's right. We Americans absolutely hate to think. A lot will disagree with me but it's the truth. We like things to go one way or the other, no mystery or imagination.

Well, it was all in Fry's mind. Besides, she has hinted about it all throughout the show with no results.

I guess seeing is believing for me. I was a little upset that there was no traditional ending that featured all of the characters together at once.

I guess in a way I'd be okay with Fry and Leela getting together at the end just so long as it was done the right way. After seeing The Office xmas specials I now believe that happy endings to love stories CAN work without being blatantly obvious and cheesy, so providing that Futurama could pull it off in an intelligent and profound way I would be fine with it. Enjoy it, even.

Besides, if there's one thing that Futurama's lack of closure has brought forth, it's a tidal wave of uninspiring shippy fanfics. So that'd be something to aspire to putting a stop to.   :p

I don't.  I like endings where you get to decide for yourself what happens next.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer it if there was more Futurama after "Devil's Hands"; but if there isn't anything else after that, I'd rather have the open-ended ending.

The way it should end for...
Hermes:Get to be #1.0

Amy:Gets married to Kif

Zoidberg:Gets to replace Humorbot 2.0 on his show and becomes famus.

Bender:Gets to be a famous cook and folk singer

Scruffy:Gets to be the PE's head of stock owner ship

Proffesser:Gets to be a famous scientist.

Leela :Dates Fry and becomes happy

Fry:Gets to date Leela and have eternal happyness

In other words,I like happy endings. ;)
