Merry Xmas to all!  smile smile smile

Watching the Xmas episodes though made me wonder a few things.

1) Santa has been around for 200 years
2) He only visits Earth one night a year
3) People (well, some people like the crew for instance) know where he resides the rest of the year
4) He is just one robot

I wonder why he has been allowed to torment Earth every Xmas Eve since 2801. Why haven't the Earth Army gone to Neptune in say June and destroyed him, since he is only one robot and probably no match for an Army. Or why not shoot his sleigh and blow it up as he heads to Earth?

I like the Xmas episodes (although I think the first one was much better than the second) and I know they are there to entertain but any possible answers to this would be welcomed.

Merry Xmas once again!

maybe everyone is too scared of santa for gods sake he has a tommy laser gun, if you go near him he shoots the crap outta ya, it does make me wonder why though you have got me there!! I thought the second episode was funnier even if slightly overdone

I did wonder so, too.
One atack of the NIMBUS or a similar ship and Santa Claus would be as dead as cold ash.
My idea is that Santa Claus is "used" by the Earth Gouvernment to controll the inhabitants of Earth ("fellow Earthicans" ).
The society of the 4th millenia is very free: Especially free of cultural tabus.
That way Santa Claus is kind of a guarantee that the people on Earth do not forget morals and cultural tabus totally.

I like that idea LesbianLeela, being used as a moral counter-weight. Although I would have to agree that it seems that everyone is just piss-scared of the robot. I can't imagine Zap or Kif having the guts to take him on, even when they are on board the Nimbus.

Perhaps the big corporations like to keep Santa around as they can prey on the fear of the average citizen and sell them lots of stuff as a result. Remember the "Death To Santa" rocket launcher with jolly seeking missiles or whatever it was? Without Santa, I'm sure those wouldn't sell as well.

So perhaps they could destroy Santa if they wanted to but they pretend they can't because it benefits them financially.  cool

The Earth Army taking out Santa?  laff  laff That's rich.

The Earth army is as incompetent as they come. It's a force consisting of frehsly recruited idiots, with units formed and trained on the go. True they might have some good weapons, but when the people behind the trigger is of the caliber we've seen in the Earth Army...

Don't count on DOOP either. Their only victories happened against pacifist and/or unarmed opponents, whenever they face serious opposition they crumble like a tincan in a car compactor.

Plus in either case, Zapp Brannigan would lead the attack.

In the other corner we have Santa, a ruthless killing machine who can turn NNY into a burning ruin in mere hours, have no moral objections at all and acces to advanced weaponry (and a will to use them).

The Earth Army is probably more than interested in taking out Santa, they just lack the competence.

Plus, it would put them on the Really Naughty list... and nobody wants that.
