I've just read this fanfic (Blast to the Past) where they tried to implant Fry's 20th century nephew with a career chip. He was destined to become a DOOP ambassador.

And that got me thinking..
How do the Fate Assignment Officers detemine what job your best at?
Is it through education or are you injected with the chip shortly after birth?
If its the former, that means Amy dosen't have any career assigned as yet.

Secondly, being a Fate Officer is quite different from being a "county-certified space captain". How did Leela manage to jump ship if she already been assigned the job she is best at?
What do u guys think?

Well Leela was given a captains chip from the professer so when she went to get certified and they checked her chip it would have said space captain and since chips are given out by government officials they would have had no reason to check to see if that chip was really the one she was supposed to have.

Amy is a Martian, The jurisdiction of the FAO Corps probably doesn't extend to the Red Planet.

They assign your fate after an examination, that among other things, include a ride in the prob-u-lator.

What happens to a fate assignment officer after everyone wakes up from the freezer tubes?

Relocated to a hospital? Or elementary/high school? Regular Earthicans are fate-assigned as well.

Meh, the whole career chip idea was pretty much abandoned after the first episode.  Aside from in "Cryonic Woman" I don't remember them ever being mentioned again.

Of course some species are impossible to assign fates to, Like the three-eyed blob race.  I guess they take any fate they want, or they eat who's ever responsible.
