Just a question about The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings.

What is the musical instrument that gives that haunting melody at the end? I think its just beutiful and would like to hear some more. Mabye even learn to play it. I was watching a travel show last night and there was a tune that sounded just like the one at the end of the episode.

So yeh it would be nice to know where i can find more.

if you're talking at the very end before the credits, it sounds a flute playing at it's lowest octive or a bass flute. sounds like a woodwind instrument either way.

the holophoner itself is several different instruments.  Im not exactly sure what part you are talking about but in the last few seconds i belive thats a flute or similar wind over a hole instrument. But if your talking about the part that sounds knida childish during the sceane where fry and leela hold hands I think that is a trumpet with some knid of mute. I am not sure of either of these but i have been in a coule bands and orchestras and this is what they sound like to me

The holophoner sounds to me like an instrument my mom's boyfriend plays: the 'hobo' (I entered it in an online-dictionary and in English it's 'oboe'). It's sort of a flute, but it produces a sound that's very beautiful, not so dumb and ordinairy as an ordanairy flute.

*Snicker* Hobo  :)

I think there was a thread about the Holophoner, and what instrument it derived from, can't remember what it was called though...

Hey thanks for that. I thought it sounded too cool to be an average flute.

The answer to Bibiben's original question is the flute playing at a low octive. And just to add...The oboe freaks me out ( gets the hebie- gebies) It looks really weird and sounds like a rich nerd getting beaten up.
