fox is looking for new cartoons, they could come back with futurama, changing the names

but heres the thing, seems fox cancells all the good cartoon shows they put it on, so do we really wanna get attached to lets say, maybe a new good cartoon they put on when we know theyll cancel it, same with if futurama got brought back
i dunno why groening doesnt market the crap out of his shows and move them to another network
please reply on ur opinion, agree, disagree, what u think should be done, thanks   :puke:

and when i mean market his shows i mean, do a better job than fox did on marketing futurama, A LOT better of a job

Welcome to PEEL, FryishFry!

Cartoon Network would like to order new episodes of Futurama, but they don't have enough money.

As for marketing the crap out of it, look what that's done to the Simpsons...

Not really, it just means that they are looking for more cartoon shows. That believe Futurama to be dead. If they bring back Futurama, they'll bring back Family Guy too. Plus, on't double post, just use the edit button  ;)

Weren't CN trying to bring Family Guy back?  It's cheaper to make, so they might have a better chance.

damn, chances dont sound good, i think family guys funnier, but futurama more intelligent and interesting, id love for atleast one to come back, if not, maybe we will get another great groening cartoon? i dunno, im a little confused at the moment, i was really bored by king of the hill and never liked that show, i think simpsons honsestly is still good, but its not quite as entertaining as it used to be, but my fav tv shows were cancelled futurama and family guy, and its pist me off since the day theyve cancelled it, it just seemse like their couldve been so many more great plots, jokes, and creativity we couldve seen

I've got a niggling feeling that we won't see another cartoon from MG.  I hope I'm wrong, but it's rare for someone to get three bites at creating a TV show.

I dunno, they probably won't take Futurama back...too bad CN doesn't have more money.  I think that they cancelled it because they didn't want it to compete with The Simpsons (which has name-brand appeal), so they might think that they are shooting themselves in the foot by picking up Futurama again.   Then again, large corporations have a brain comparable to a T-Rex's, but with worse reaction time.  They might ignore the policy inconsistency and go for the gold.

Well... Family Guy isnt back, but there was a small snippet of Stewie taklin' smack about 50 Cent on the MTV VMA pre-show tonight. So if theres hope for FG theres hope for Futurama too.

Cartoon Network recently co-produced a second season of Big O. If we get lucky maybe they will bring back Futurama. I have read that CN is(or was) interested in producing more Futurama shows. It's got a built in fan base, the chances are slightly good, Futurama is their biggest Adult Swim ratings getter. The odds aren't great but their better than average.

i saw that too! I don't really watch family guy, but i was excited to see stewie on there. It was really random.  I thought that was pretty cool of MTV to do that.

It would hurt the DVD sales with such a limited total production run in the first place (unlike Simpsons and Friends DVD trickles).  I doubt they would take futurama back in the network mix.

i hope they do bring it back because in my opinion that last episode was none too good. it wasnt final enough for me and it tainted the other wise fault less cartoon.

I think Fox are taking the piss.  They're trying to produce another reality show, ultimately.

They don't give other cartoons made by professionals a chance, so should they give the home-made cartoons a chance?  I don't think so.  It'd be on air for a while and then they'd "do a Futurama" and pre-empt it.

On the subject of Family Guy being better, I really can't agree.  It's alright, but relies too much on fart jokes and toilet humour.

There's possiblity Futurama's coming back, I mean...it was a huge success, look at Ren & Stimpy, they've brought it back like how many times now?

Here are some numbers to make you cry.

Each episode of Futurama costs about US$1.3 million to make, meaning an entire 22 episode season would cost just under US$30 million.

Yes, that's a lot of money, but +/- 2 million people watch the Cartoon Network episodes.  If you do the math, that means if every CN Futurama fan in the US sent CN between $15 and $20, they could produce a fifth series of 22 brand new shows at the very same quality as the original 72.

Before anyone starts a campaign, my understanding is that such a move would be against the law.  Shows can only get their money from a very small number of sources to keep producers from ripping off thousands of investors promising percentages of the show.

If you want to start a non-profit corporation to take donations then present the money as a single investor, that could be a possibility, but just setting up such a corporation takes a lot of cash and legal expertise. (Hey, but if you have the resources, put me down for at least $20!)

*Sigh* - so close yet so far...

Oh - and about "Family Guy".  The producer said in an interview that with the success of the show on CN and good sales of the DVDs, FOX has talked to him about a one off "Family Guy" TV movie.  I have no idea if it ever progressed passed the "talking" stage.  I'm sure that when David Cohen mentions a Futurama "movie", he means the same thing.

Be careful of what you wish for. R&S is back, but the new show, I think, is a complete piece of CRAP!!

The return of Futurama, with the same crew AND the same quality would be great.

I think you're at least in part correct.  In my opinion, Fox have taken a look at how Adult Swim has come together, and is looking to produce an Aqua Teen Hunger Force of their own; ie. a cheaply produced show that appeals to the same demographic.  Shows like Sealab 2021 and Space Ghost have pretty much proven that one can succeed and not pour millions of dollars into an animation budget.  Actually, South Park probably proved that point first, but now that the formula has been adopted and expanded by others, the mainstream is finally probably looking to cash in.

Man, Family Guy has about one 1/1,000,000,000 the charm and intelligence of Futurama. If Family Guy comes back and Futurama doesn't, there's gonna be one angry ho with an ice pick at Cartoon Network's doorstep

CN is our friend, dont hate on them. Family Guy is not a horrible show, just a little, umm, disturbing. I find it funny thou. I would love it to come back, but of course Futurama is so much better. Remeber, the enemy is fox! Also disney channel!

I don't dislike Family Guy because it's disturbing--on the contrary--I find the more disturbing the better. However, I just find Peter to be a very unlikeable character. But yeah, Futurama is so much better. I dunno how evil the Disney Channel can be, despite the fact that all their live action shows could be on some sort of suicide note if I ever decide to write one. What is your reasoning for thinking the Disney Channel is the enemy? Unless you think it's a separate entity from Toon Disney, which is where I get my Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck fix. In that case I agree. Kill the Lizze McGuire perpetuators.

I really hope that Cartoon Network will make more episodes of Futurama... if they really want to boost their ratings, I'd move Futurama up from 11:30 pm.. my parents won't let me stay up that late now! Stupid high school, interferes with watching the only thing I ever watch on TV! *growls*

I haven't seen the last episode (woo I was on a road trip to LA that DAY!) but I saw some framegrabs and looked at some trancript clips and I think there should either be:

A) Another season of episodes all around!
B) FUTURAMA: The Movie

Or even better, both!
