Hi there!

Iīve got a question:
Iīve been told maaany times that "time keeps on slippinī" is too emotional, but I do like it - in fact itīs one of my favourites. Is it maybe because Iīm female or do boys/men also like this one? And if you do, WHY?
I love Fry to be so romantic and openminded; but I donīt understand Leela:
She tells Dr Zoidberg she dislikes Fryīs childishness (I donīt know all the words, perhaps itīs the wrong one, Iīm German...); but when he apologized for the case he tricked her into this marriage he prooves heīs not childish but responsable and lovely.

Most of all itīs interesting how their characters developed...time keeps on slippinī, itīs true...

Please donīt you hesitate to answer,
Iīm curious!

  ;) goodbye!!!

Welcome, Suzanne!

Yeah, I liked this one. Being a Trekkie, anything with really absurd technobabble is a winner. Bonus cool points for the Harlem Globetrotters. Great ending. Fry just can't win, can he?

Oh, and then there's that naked conga line. Fry was conga-ing between Leela and Amy, the lucky bastard.

Hmm, this should really be in the General Forum...

Iīd like Fry to win in the end, but I donīt like Futurama to end, so he just canīt win, youīre right...and itīs sooo sad, heīs trying hard to be romantic.
I donīt like him to go out with Amy and the other girl friends he had, as he isnīt really interested in them, just in their perfect look or something.
I canīt understand that...I think, most of the boys are just interested in good-looking girls. Not that Iīm not good-looking, but Iīm not really perfect. (who is??)
Hm, but actually Fry is like most guys...

I've only seen this ep once... I didn't like it much.  I thought it was boring...  But that's just my opinion.    :)

I should watch it again though.

This episode was ok.
Has anyone noticed that Leela has got a bit dumber in season 3, in this episode she actually believed Fry when he told her he had built a shelter from time slips.
Amy has becum a bit smarter and less of a slut which means Leela must becum more of a slut to keep the sluttiness level just right.
The highlight of this episode was definetly the naked congo line.

hey suz(?)anne

as i said in this thread, i loved that ep.
The Romance thing isn't just a girl thing. I watched the episode twice on my own, and then with my brother and dad. They aren't big Futurama freaks, but still liked it.
I liked the pace a lot. And there were other episodes which had way more romance *cough*parasite*cough*.

I didn't like the episode too much. Not because of the romantic parts - although there where too many in season 3 - but because of the pace. It was definity too quick for me. Maybe us old guys prefer develloping comedy =;-)))

Hmmm.... it wasn't TOO emotional i just hated that fry kept saying he loved leela...over and over again

maybe its just me but it got annoying....

and when he was yakking on about how he didn't trick her into marrying her

it was just handeled a lot better in "Parasites Lost"

I agree. I'm a guy but I liked the emotional stuff in Parasites Lost and Luck of the Fryrish. It just wasn't handled as well in Time Keeps On Slippin'.

But still, the episode makes up for it by being damn funny.

Actually, I thought the romance was handled much better in tkos.  Maybe it's just because parasites got too serious for me...Well, I guess tkos was also kind of serious in the end, I just liked it more!

Anyways, tkos is one of my all-time favorites now - not necessarily because of the romance.  I really liked the pace, it was fast and the jokes were all great.  It had it all...time skips, globetrotters, and a naked conga line   :D

hey, boys like fry are of course interested in good-looking girls (and robots like bender are interested in good-looking fem-bots, but i still don't get it why bender was interested in that big robot from the farm on the moon - i forgot her name), but i think he really likes leela for her brains as much (so there is still hope for good-looking, smart, clever girls like you!)

First - it's The Crushinator.
Second - He liked her because it's freakin hilarious!  Not to mention robots seem to have different tastes than humans.  Remember the robot that gave Fry a lap dance?

I really liked this episode, some of the timing with the time jumps was superb. I haven't really seen an episode i don't like yet. my fave probably has to be the amozen women one, fry and zapps faces when they get punished to death by 'boom boom' are hilarious.

It's not how long you've been here, it's how many posts you've made. The more posts, the more stars, and the higher the rank. See the thread titled "Status Names..." in the PEEL Museum for more information. The ranks don't really mean anything, and are just there for for fun.

Hi Suzanne. As a boy/man or man/boy depending on whom you ask I find Fry to be a bit too pathetic in this one. It's evident that Leela is only interested in Handsome Doctors or the Infested Fry. She was willing to tolerate the abuse by Alcazar in her near miss marriage because she though she found the last Cyclops male. She has done a lot worse than Fry in my opinion. After all, her and Zap did "consummate" their relationship...

Probably the most profound line about Leela and her relations (or lack of relations) came from Fry in Loves Labor: "If you eliminate every guy with a low IQ or an explosive temper, of course you're going to be lonely."

Yeah, Fry's done a lot better than Leela... he's bedded a pretty beureucrat, a gorgeous mermaid, and <sigh> Amy...

hey, is there someone unlucky in the house? r u luvsick???????????? well, anyway.
amy is kinda cute, i don't know exactly why i like her, i just like her. maybe it's because leela is a little too tough. i mean look at all the characters in the series: fry, bender, the prof, even nibbler they are so funny, so childish so cartoonish (of course they are...). leela is so intellegent, so "grown-up", hell she's a total integer person. amy is just that nice, cute girl-from-next-door. a little "slutty", gives you the impresson that she is eager to have snu-snu with you, i don't know, maybe i'm wrong. hell, i just like her.....if i had to choose between amy & leela i would choose amy. but maybe leela is the greater challenge!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna go back to the original point of this thread, not to change the convo.
Anyway, TKoS is literally my favorite episode for one big reason:  I'm THE shipper.  Every love song on the radio reminds me of L&F, so needless to say I loved this eppie!  It's so sweet the way Fry actually has real feelings for Leela and hasn't even "scored" this season, unless you count AWITM, which I don't really.  Maybe he's holding out for her...
That aside, he's still a horny jerk.  I mean, as Brad says he let's go of his devotion easily: "Oh, boo-hoo, Leela doesn't care about me...What?  Death by sex/Lucy Liu?  Yahoo!"  :flirt:  As of now, I'm not too found of Fry or Leela since they've both done some things that really got me PO'ed.  Until they both get their feelings and priorities straight, it's gonna be just like S2.  A near-kiss here, some inneundo there.  Someday things will happen and all will be well for us romantics.
Um...what was the topic again?

What was wrong with Fry making out with the Lucy Lui bot?
Leela basically told him there was no chance she would ever except him in TKoS so why should Fry have any devotion to her?
You don't really expect Fry to live in celebacy, hoping Leela will someday except him, do you? lifes too short for that

If Fry and Leela got together it could kill a lot of the humour.
I'd like too see them both have more one episode affairs with other people first, those usually make funny episodes.
They will eventually get together so why rush it?

True. I really like what they've done with the romance so far, but I worry what the show would be like if two main characters got together. I wouldn't want the show to turn into a relationship comedy, like Mad About You In Space.

Yeah, but Futurama isn't guaranteed another few seasons like The Simpsons. If the writers want to resolve the romance arc by the time the show ends, they might not be able to afford prolonging it another season.

I agree, Fishy.  We don't know how long the series will last, so the writers may want to explore this romance aspect sooner.  Personally, I don't see what's wrong with having two people in a relationship.  I mean, sure Friends and Ally McBeal can be just plain stupid, but other shows have managed to pull it off.  Frasier and Titus are just two examples.  If Fry did manage to win Leela over, there's dozens of possibilities of what could go right or wrong in their relationship.  Ever seen King of Queens or For Your Love?  Both those shows have romance as a reoccuring theme and pull in plenty of viewers.  Now, I'm not saying Futurama should become anything like Mad About You in Space, but every show needs genuine human emotion.  What person would argue with that?  Even the Simpsons has its moments(Think Bleeding Gums Murphy's death.).  The fact is, people do experience love.  It's undeniable.  So why should the characters in this great show be any different?  On another note, sex and romance are two very big parts of comedy.  They're funny when handled well.  And I know everyone will say 'But Theta, not everyone thinks like you' and I know that.  But personally, I don't think that even in comedy, sex should be used so lightly.  I mean, if you don't have any feelings for the person, what's the point?  Okay, now I'm getting off topic.  But all my points are valid!
This is the no.1 LFR signing off...

I must gbe hard for the writers to decide what to do with F&R's relationship, if they would know when it would end they could write a happy ending but if they take a guess and just let them get together it mind end up like The Nanny or Lois and Clarkmor something and we wouldn't want that to happen. The problem is that it;s obvious they both have feelings for eachother, fry a little more obvious than Leela ofcourse. It's not lik ein the X-files where the chemistry was there but they never really centered the plot around it, which alowed the show to go on without disapointments in that arae...Maybe I am wrong, the writers might be brilliant enough to actually make it work...

I think it would be a big mistake if the they just rushed the whole Fry/Leela romance thing up cos they feared the Fox was going to cancel the show.
Even if Fox did cancel the show another station could pick it up or they could release the episodes on DVD or VHS and what if fox decides to keep the show? then they would have rushed the romance for nothing.
