Listening to the Audio Commentaries, I can't help but feel that the whole crew are harboring hidden desires in regards to Tress McNeil. She receives more praise than any other voice actor, writer or staff member.

To use the parlance of our times, methinks  they wanna bone her.

Sorry, everyone is being so serious, I had to comment on this.

I wouldn't know, since they don't mention her on S1 DVDs!

I'll apologize tomorrow, when I get S2 in the mail.  :)

I don't blame them seeing as she's one of the most talented voice over actress's in the world. I was happy to finally hear her in those too few commentaries she did for S3, great participation from her. Kudos Tress!

I thinks mayhaps the person above hasn't listened to his/her DVD commentaries properly to have the gall to say they don't MENTION her in the Season 1 DVDs.

Yeah, I also seem to remember them saying stuff about her in the first season DVDs - I'm almost sure they did.

Yes, they did mention her quite a few times in the Season One DVD.

Well, Tress McNeille is after all one of the most talented voice actresses.  She did voices in practically every single cartoon I've ever seen, from the ones I was watching when I was a little kiddie, all the way to the ones I'm watching now, now that I'm older (i.e. Futurama and the Simpsons).  So I pretty much grew up listening to her voice acting.  So she's really great.

Tress MacNeille deserves every bit of praise she gets. In some episodes she does more voice work than several of the regular actors and then gets credited for "Additional Voices." Her massive Imdb filmography speaks for her talent.

Then again, in just about every commentary that Billy West doesn't feature in*, John DiMaggio says "That's Billy West. That guy's a genius." You sayin' he's gay?  :p

Tress MacNeille is great. After all, it's sometimes really hard to believe that characters like Linda or MOM are done by the same person.

Yeah. If it weren't for the fact that all her voices sound exactly alike, I'd have no idea they were done by the same person.

Anyway, even though I'm no Tress Macneille fan, I don't think boning has anything to do with their praise. John Dimaggio talks about how brilliant David Herman and Billy West are, too. He just seems enthusiastic about the voice-over community in general.

The only person who doesn't get any praise from anyone is Katey Segal. Poor woman.

I don't believe that anybody in the crew has passionate desires about her now but listen to the commentary for FutureStock. It seems as if her and Billy West had a bit of a past.

She's a good voice actor, but her "kid" voice really gets on my nerves after hearing it in a million different shows.  You know the one..."You stink, loser!"  I do like her Agnes Skinner voice, even if she uses the exact same one for Mom.

I never liked her MOM voice much, but I do like Agnes Skinner's voice, so they can't be THAT similar. Doesn't Agnes sound more like the landlady at Fry's apartment than MOM.

Her work may be prolific, but whenever she's mentioned on the DVD the praise seems to be universal.

I guess this'll be like the romances that I used to assume were happening in my Spanish text book between Pablo and Mary (the foreign exchange student in Mexico). We'll have to wait til Fun with Spanish Intermediate Three to see the sparks fly... errr I mean Season 3 Futurama DVD.

Agnes and Mom are diffrent. Agnes is kind ofg dotering and mumbly where as Mom is agresive and distinct. The same as Peg Bundy and Leela are difrent voices.(which needed to be stated once a week way back in '99) with both examples the intonation and such is completely diffrent.
Now Agnes and Hattie.....
Those are a bit closer.

she's gotten praise. At least twice that i can remember. Dimagio mentions her in i think the pilot and they also point out her lovely singing voice in hell is other robots.

They also point out Katey's singing voice in The Series Has Landed. When she was singing along to the "whalers on the moon" song, they mention that she was singing too well and they kept asking her to make it sound worse.  :)

Katey Sagal is pretty good, especially since she hadn't done voiceover work prior to Futurama.

Still, I think the true test of a voice over artist is screaming. People don't scream in real life the way they do in cartoons. Delroy Lindo was a guest star on the Simpsons a couple seasons ago and his scream came out lame. So did the scream Katey made in the 4th episode when Leila woke up next to Zapp Brannigan. But that's the only complaint I've ever had about her.

Luckily most of the screaming in Futurama was done by Fry or Bender.
