have you ever noticed how the futurama characters seem to talk about horrible tragedies like they were nothing, just casual who cares type stuff?

you know what i mean. i feel this is wrong, and am quite apalled by it. i mean here is the equivalent of what they say in our terms.

FRY: So, what happened to the jews?
LEELA: Oh, mass genocide in the early 1940's
FARNSWORTH: Oh my yes, and i had experiments with them for forced mating.
AMY: Yeah, 6 million sent to their deaths in the gas chambers or horribly experimented on.
*Mind you everyone is speaking nochalontly like fry asked what the freaken wheather is like.*
FRY (opens slurm, drinks): Oh.....
[see getak in the background shaking his head  :nono: with a single tear welling up in his eye.]

seriously, i am not even jewish, and i am quite offended by how they can speak on those terms. now don't get me wrong, i am sure you all found this hilarious, but i really don't have to question why people might not like this aspect of the show.

i find it apalling, i am sure somebody out there finds it disagreeable to some lesser degree than i, but still a turn for the worst for how the characters act in the show.

Prepare to be flamed, my friend.

And as per my opinion, it's only accepted because the tragedies haven't (and most likely, won't ) happened, and in most cases, none of Futurama's viewers will be around in the times that the show itself predicts.  How many of the world's inhabitants honestly show great quantities of remorse for tragedies in the distant past?  Not that many.  The show is being real enough to depict what people are actually like while speaking of past events.  Take a good look around you and examine society before you go getting this upset about such things.

well they've probably got bigger problems in their time.  sort of like if the fire went out for cavemen back then it was like a horrible disaster (remeber, it took a while to start) but now if you're out camping and a fire goes out its no big deal.

and yes, i'm sure someone could be offendedf by that part. i'm mostly jewish but i am not religous at all so i'm not offended but it is kind of sad if you think about it.

You obviously have no taste. That episode was probably the best of the 4acv episodes! My favorite part was their trip to the Holocaust Head Museum. Educational and funny.

I'm with 100% Drippy_Taco on this one. I mean, how many people today talk about things like the Crusades and various other massacres (the period of the French revolution, the catholic vs. protestant boodbaths, etc.) with great emotions and sadness? And that wasn't even as long ago for us as the 1940s are for them.

Speaking of: why did Futurama and all your other favorite shows get cancelled, Kryten? I thought you people owned TV, or something.

Yeah, Getak.  Why do you complain that they make fun of Jews when YOU were the one that made it up?

I believe this same person recently started another thread about Futurama being wrong and offensive because they make fun of the military...

The Non-chalantnesss is supposed to underline the stupidity and Modern casualness of the age. After all, Science fiction is about Commenting on the present and where we are going.
We've been over this again and again and Frankly who ever doesnt get it isnt a real futurama fan, or particularly intelligent to miss something thats so subtle and yet so obvious. Its not Completely obvious for you to take it for granted, They make it easy to notice.

Ur all so right, exept getak ofcourse, he is obviously somewhat lacking in the brains department.

And whats wrong with mocking the military? Exept for those hot uniforms is there actually anything good about it?

Its all about being able to laugh at urself, so start chorttling Getak cos u have alot of funny character flaws

Comedy is tragedy where you don't feel sorry for the victim. Look at Zoidberg.

Methinks that this poll should have a sub-poll : "...have you noticed this, and does it bother you?!", 'cause frankly, although nearly everyone notice this, most people i know find it extremely funny, so i'd hate to see a politically correct futurama episode (unles the PC was so exagerated, that you'd know from the get-go that it's a spoof)

You notice how no one cares about The Black Plague that killed 1/3 of the human population? No! Why? Because it happened so long ago... and it is so unlikely to happen again, that no one cares. Besides, mourning the dead of a tradgedy from that long ago would be pointless. It would be like me mourning for my great great great great... grandfather... who I've never met, never seen a picture of, or know his name.

EDIT: Take that, and that, and that. That dead horse won't bother us again
