But Futurama has some of the best animation seen on tv...would they want to continue on with a cable budget? If it were to be moved to another network, I'd have to hope for UPN or WB. There would still be a budget cut, but it wouldn't be nearly as drastic. My prediction is that Fox will order a very short fifth production run and end it there. But then again, they can always go the lame-ass Family Guy route, and keep taking it off the air, and bringing it back with "new" episodes(even though they are all from the same old production run). With like 9 3acv episodes and all of the 4acv episodes, they could stretch this out for years if they wanted. I would keep an eye out for the DVD releases. Is it official that they are coming out this year? I doubt FOX would release DVDs of a show they were planning to cancel.

Futurama will only fail if FOX keep squeezing it into weird slots i live in england and the only way you can watch futurama is if you have SKY cable not terestrial TV) the only episdoes on normal TV were cut up really badly so you couldn't get any of the jokes this has KILLED the fanbase in the UK the only person who i know talks about futurama is paul (scanartcentral)

Futurama isn't going anywhere any time soon! Fox loves futurama (even they they treat it like crap). Futurama gets them good ratings, and until futurama doesnt have anyone watching it (a lot of people watch it), fox wont get rid of it.
And if they do, Ive already started a plan.

If Futurama is to survive we need to start sending Fox death threats. All these petitions are getting us nowhere. Serious action must be done now. We need some people to volunteer as suicide bombers, cum on who here is willing to die for the greater good?

Sit down for this one - it's kinda long. Futurama's ratings started out pretty well but took a gradual nose dive (that doesn't make sense now that I think about it...) for the worse. Fox execs didn't seem to notice or care that this happened at the SAME TIME that they moved the show from Sunday to Tuesday nights. The 8:30 timeslot is almost a lock to get ratings since the average viewer is too lazy to switch channels between The Simpsons and The X-Files. Some shows such as Malcolm are able to hold their own even in other timeslots, while others, such as Ned and Stacey, didn't do as well. Granted, Futurama is in no immediate danger of being cancelled, but it wouldn't hurt to move the show to its old timeslot for a season before the Simpsons and X-Files are moved to the permanent rerun bin if you catch my drift. Futurama has shown that it has evolved on the great storytelling and humor which made The Simpsons a hit. And frankly, Family Guy or King of the Hill is not the show to lead the "200 Fox Animated Shows Parade." Malcolm will do just fine on a weekday. Fox actually proved that it can make a comedy succeed on a weekday without the use of its 8:30 Sunday launchpad. It stars a guy named Christopher Titus and I love the show. So in case there's any Fox brass reading this on a whim, give these ideas a thought. If not, you might just be sorry in 5-6 years when your Sunday lineup consists of "World's Widest Police Videoes" and "Lone Gunmen" reruns.

Well, I was shocked when i heard that FOX could eventually kill the series after the 4th season. In Germany we just become hungry after The first 2 seasons (even if the translation wasn't the best). I belief it was also the timeslot at 9.30 p.m. on Monday (!!!), just between the new (for Germans) season of the Simpsons (very popular) and TV-Total (a very famous TV comedy show with Stefan Raab (some of you might know from the European music contest in sweden a year ago ("Wadde Hadde Dude Da" ) about 4 million Germans watching regular)which established this series. It had worked here. So why shouldn't it work for FOX???

Which means I've missed out episodes. and because channnel seven sux, and fox australia cant show any new episodes before non cable channel 7 does, it looks like I'm going nowhere. GOD DAMMIT!!!!! Isn't there a chance they'll start showing Season 3 on Foxtel. They've finished showing both of the first two seasons now so here's hoping they decide to show them unless channel 7 has paid for the first showing rights.

I feel so... powerless! I hate FOX, I hate the way they pre-empt / cancel Futurama for @#$%ing FOOTBALL (I hate American Football!!), but of course there's nothing I, or 1000s of fans can do about it. Petitions aren't working, 'cause FOX doesn't care enough to listen to them. Meanwhile, Stupid "Reality" Show #3245 gets all the air time it wants... (God, I hope "reality" shows are a passing fad). Hey, I got an idea for a reality show -- let's strand the FOX network execs on a uncharted island -- forever!

Originally posted by Kryten: Yeah, I meant new episodes. MST3K refers to Mystery Science Theater 3000, which originally ran on Comedy Central, got cancelled after seven seasons, and got picked of by the Sci-Fi Channel for another 3 seasons. Mike Nelson, Tom Servo, and Crow, the stars of the show, had a cameo in "Raging Bender", BTW.
Unfortunately, MST3k started going downhill after Joel left. It was never the same :-(
