You can start going nuts now...AICN spies at Comic Con have revealed that CN is immediately to go to Matt Groening for new episodes. It's up to Matt to decide (hopefully he'll say YES). It's in one line of this article:
 http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=15705

Just look for the bold words "Futurama Panel". If this has been covered, just close me. But it looks very likely that "Devil's Hands" isn't going to be the series finale by a longshot...

The CGEF article didn't say anything like that.  And this person got the news secondhand, so maybe what he heard was exaggerated.  I just wouldn't get excited quite yet.

Would it be a surprise if I say new episodes could be a good thing?

it's only a good thing if Cn keeps Futurama at its present quality. Futurama hasn't done anything to deserve squiggle-vision.

Remember, CN said "Squigglevision? Hell no, that's too expensive!" It'ld probably be done in Flash if they ever did it. In any case, I don't think CN will pick it up. That article sounds like it's leaving open the possibility of it being picked up so that they don't look like idiots.

That's nothing like what I read in the article u posted. The guy didnt even get in, and just said that cartoon network would hopefully pick it up.

CGEF's report has already said what matt groening said about CN and futurama- they will play the last of season4 production run starting in november, and wont be able to pick it up with out a network backer.

not gonna happen, stop spreading rumours

Canadian girls kick ass!
Oh and this bit of web teasing is way to much.  We need a lot more to go on before we get our ginch all in a twist (like an interview with MG himself).  But on the other hand--
OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY! OH BOY!

It would be great, but I do share the opinion of the others, that CN might not able to give them (the producers of Futurama) the money they would need in order to keep the animation standards they have set so far.

Ah...
Hope, however tenuous, springs eternal...

If (big, huge, humongous, GARGANTUAN if there!) by some miracle CN does order new Futurama eps; I'll watch!

Whether or not I keep watching depends on the eps produced.

I agree there is a infinitesimal chance of new Futurama eps, but you'd need an electron microscope to find it...

Still, it's enough to keep hope alive.

I'm good for that! Who's with me?

I know its bad to say this, but we've got to give up here. If we just keep thinking that Futurama is gonna come back we'll never be able to enjoy these last few episodes as just that, the last few episodes.

Newsflash: That doesn't say "immediately", it doesn't say "CN have revealed". It just says "hopefully". Learn to understand english. Then get over it, because it's Never. Going. To. Happen.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I don't see any news here.  Cartoon Network picked up Futurama months ago, so that isn't news.  As for new episodes, the word "hopefully" says it all.  Forgive me if I restrain my excitement.

Now, if you've got an official press release from Cartoon Network announcing that they're buying new episodes, that's news (I'm not holding my breath for that announcement).

Also, any announcement that F*X Television Network executives were seen begging Matt Groening on bended knee for more episodes while simultaneously shouting "we are not worthy" and performing self-flagellation, would also qualify as news (or at least a pretty good fantasy).

So movies may still be on the way, and he doesn't rule out new episodes.

Holy shit, dude! But, I hope the animation looks as good as the one we know and love. As well as the writers, voice actors and such.

I have a suspicion that the 'new episodes' being referred to are simply the Season 5 shows that Fox are currently still airing.

Remember, CN is part of Turner Broadcasting, which has enough money to pour in to Futurama, if they feel it's a good investment.

That said, the chances of Turner giving CN enough money to do that are next to nil.

Akito01: That's possible, but the (completely untrustworthy) article seemed to say differently.

Futurama costs what?  A quarter-million an episode?  More?

Ted Turner could easily make Futurama with the same quality, maybee even better.  This is the guy that gave 1 billion dollars to charity.  thats 2000 episodes of Futurama @ .5 mill and 1000 @ 1 mill.  He could easily bankroll production with like, the 100 dollar bills he lost inbetween the seats of his fleet of private jets.
