This has some good potential!  I think we could see another good character study on Bender like in Godfellas (rather just an episode purely for comic purposes).  Looking forward to it.

By the way - are these spoilers really necessary? I mean, anyone who clicks on a topic entitled "*SPOILER* Obsoleteley Fabulous *SPOILER*" really has no right to complain if people discussing the episode don't use spoilers...

That description was a lot more crap before I reworded it for CGEF to the one above. Cohen mailed me and gave me a proper one:

Quote
When Fry, Bender and the Planet Express gang attend Roboticon 3003 - the world's largest robot trade show - the Professor purchases the new "Robot 1-X", which threatens to render Bender obsolete. Feeling inadequate, Bender returns to MomCorp for an upgrade, but becomes terrified that the procedure will erase his robo-humanity. In desperation, he escapes from the factory and becomes a castaway on a tropical island that seems uninhabited... or is it? Violence ensues.

That ep sounds really clool from the new description, and even better again from the re-worded description. I can't wait for it, but now it doesn't sound so much like the second part of a 2 parter, so maybe 'Bender-her' and this ep are seperate afterall  :)

How did anyone GET the idea it was a two-parter in the first place?

They description by DXC sounds less Cast Away-ish ... which is a good thing!   :)
I really like the last two words of the re-worded description.   :evillaugh:

Because it was right after another Bender ep in production, instead of the Bender eps being spread out. And the one-line descriptions for both eps were very similar  :)

So? It was never officially confirmed that they were a two parter. Similar episodes occur all the time - just because they come straight after eachother doesn't mean you should assume they're connected - everyone just jumped to conclusions with this.

I never assumed anything, you're the one who assumed by assuming that I assumed that. I only thought that maybe it could be a two parter, but I didn't think to myself, 'Oh my god that's got to be a two-parter!', sheesh.

I never said you did assume it, but quite a lot of people did. I'm just saying that the original descriptions were something along the lines of "Bender gets an unwanted upgrade" and "Bender gets a gender change which allows him to take part in the olympics." They weren't very specific, but if the episodes were connected, it would have probably been noted in the small synopsis. I'm just saying that I'm not sure why quite a lot of people assumed they were 2 parters - sorry if you were under the impression I was accusing you. I'm not accusing anyone specific, I was just making a small comment. You just brought up the topic, and I was just stating my opinion, that's all. I apologise for any misunderstandings there.

Cast away references are apparent in this episode...we have Bender trapped on a tropical island with the company of a ball.  Just like Wilson the ball in the hanks film.  D'you reckon that's a coincidence?

If I wasn't so addicted to Futurama like I was when I was 13, I would just not watch that episode and just play Nintendo.

"Bender" + "Violence ensues" =   :)

So I'm guessing this episode won't be of the "shippy" variety...

Funny, I'm also looking forward to that episode  :).  There's something about Bender getting a sex change that's really funny  :).  But then again, I like all of the Bender-centric episodes.  So maybe I'm the wrong person to ask.  But anyway, Obsoletely Fabulous sounds really cool.  Especially the violence part.

Why the hell do you think that people thought it was a two parter, two episodes both next to each other about bender getting upgrades......i wonder how that happened.......
