It's not a joke, like you're gonna get a rimshot after it, it's just a cool thing to reference, just to see who gets it.  It weeds out the supernerds from the mere nerd poseurs.

Is the "that dog won't hunt, monsignor/ monsigneur" line a reference to something specific?

But these people are Zoidbergs species. It doesnt make any sense to me. All the men are supposed to be doing their ritual and the women are supposed to be selecting a mate.

One more thing. Even though its not really a joke.
In Anthology Of Interest 2, a computer game creature comes down the stairs of the spaceship and says "All your base are belong to us." IS that from a computer game cos i heard it in a techno song a while ago too.

It's from a game called Zero Wing that was badly translated from Japanese to English, resulting in lines like that.  A couple years ago someone made a song out of it.  Learn more:

Is the "Boneitus" in the eighties guy episode just a very lame joke, or does it referr to anything special and clever? Because it's not a funny name for a horrible sickness (I cannot spell deasece [see]), IT'S A LAME JOKE, FOR A MORONIC SICKNESS!

firstly, disease
secondly, its not that its a funny name its the fact fry laughs and says 'thats a funny name' in a childlike way regardless of the horrible disease the man has.
A bit like if a 25 year old was to laugh at the word cancer when someone tells him they have it.
Its just a 'shock value' kinda joke.

I still think the name itself is some kind of joke. Bone disease: Bone-itis. That would be like if blindness was called eye-itis... it's not a good joke, I admit that.

I sometimes think that the reason Fry laughed it because it sort of sounds like "boner-tis", and of course Fry's going to laugh at something like that due to his immaturity.

However, I doubt that the writers would make a joke like that, so I think the whole joke is just the fact that the name is so unorginal.

Here's something that's been bothering me for a long time:  In The Why of Fry, what's that sign that says "Stroganoff customers only" or whatever supposed to mean?
Pikka Bird

I believe it is because Beef Stroganoff is known to... well- cause tremor in your stomach and intestines. So the sign is made to shorten the queue to the big white phone.

In Time Keeps Slippin', Bubblegum Tate says to Fry "86 that ....." right after Fry tries to soften Leela up to go out with him with champagne.
What does 86ing mean?

It means to dump, reject or dismiss something.

So when Tate tell Fry to "86 the chump stuff, F-man. It's time to win Leela's heart with a big, showy, three-point, romantic gesture" he's saying he should drop the akward attempts of getting a date he's doing now, and do something big and romantic.

Edit: Heh, took too long searching for the quote.   :D

Ok this is my first post so right off the bat I'd like to say hello to everyone. Now in the sting there are two jokes/refrences I don't get .
Hermes: Honeycomb big. Yeah Yeah Yeah
Bender or Fry: It's not small?
Hermes: No No No

Leela: It'll take more than some deadly deadly bees

I know these are refrences to something though to what I have no idea.

I can help you with this one.  The joke's based on an old ad campaign for Post's Honeycomb cereal in the 80's.  Read this to get more information than you need.  You'll find the key words near the bottom of the article.  Yes, you can find anything on the internet.

When you were really little?  Thanks for making me feel old, Leah.  I remembered that commercial as being from just a few years ago.  Then again, I usually think of the early 90s as only being a few years ago.  I guess that I am getting old.

He says it twice, once maudlinly, once irreverantly.  The joke is that it's the same line.

I'm not sure why, but Tab is seen as a drink for women.  It might be because it was one of the first diet drinks.
