It's a good thing you dug up this thread Otis. It aired before I even joined PEEL, so I got loads of opinionating left to do! "Mainframe" was a great episode, especially when Fry was in the asylum. I especially liked that mad hatter bit where everyone in the table switches places. And malfunctioning Eddie made a return! I like that guy! And let's not forget Bender's chum, Roberto.

I think it might be cool showing an episode telling how Bender and Roberto met in Mexico.

That look nice. Betcha I can make it into a 3D flash animation though!

I really love the the reflections and the smoothness of the animation, one thing I don't get though is why the clouds have no reflection.

Also on a sharp enough TV is it possible to make out what that yellow sign in the distance, (left of the Planet Express building) says?

This is my favorite episode. Roberto is the best character in the series. I love his screaming and obsession with stabbing. This episode gets a perfect 10/10

I love the fact that there always seemed to be an incinerator whenever Fry needed it.

And the noise he made when he though he was a battle droid.

Also,

"I'll show ye..."

10/10 for me.

I loved the episode. I thought that it was really funny with Fry and Roberto.

------------------

Fry: Fear not, for I shall assist ye!
Hermes: Robots don't say "ye."
Fry: Relax, mammal. My robotic software shall meet your calculatory needs. What is the meaning of this symbol?
Hermes: That's a plus sign, ya pointy-haired loony! Quit thinking you're a robot!
Fry: I'll show ye...

I didn't like it the first time through, but my second viewing changed my opinion. It was hilarious! I don't know what type of drug I was on during my first viewing...

I like it when Leela gives him that long kiss and he smiles for a second. Leela thinks that he's back to normal but than he goes BEEP.

Why didn't I appreciate this ep when I saw it on TV? WHY? It seriously rocks. It goes together with Futurestock as an episode I just didn't get into the first time around. But when I saw it again on  DVD, couldn't stop laughing.

"I do other human things. I age! See!"

Also, Thompson's Teeth and the Mouth Drill make this the episode that frightened me the most.

"Oh, that's going to bleed when my heart beats."

Please forgive me IITM! I knew not what I was doing!

I missed it on the TV, all I saw was the last five minutes or so.
I was left wondering why on earth Fry thought he was a robot, the actual reason was way different from any of the ideas I postulated.

Which is a good thing since then it's not predictable...

Mmmmm you know it's one of those episodes I never really think to watch, Roberto kinda annoyed me but maybe I'm thinking I should watch it some more and become obsessed with it like I did with futurestock!  You've inspired me ALL!!

I thought after the first 5 seconds of Fry's anidroidbot e-o noise I couldn't stand to watch that scene with the volume ever again.

I love it when Fry gets really drunk

I didn't really like this episode the first time I saw it, the second time I saw I thought it was a little bit better. Not one of my favorite episodes, but I'd still watch it again. The only episode I wouldn't want to see again is The Cryonic Woman.  :hmpf:

Watched it again last night, because I hadn't seen it in a while.

It was very funny. Bender was hilarious when he was wearing a Napolean hat and playing his banjo. Fry believing that he was a robot was great, as was his interaction with Leela (beeping faster when she was holding his head close to her chest, and trying to remind him of his humanity).

My only real problem with this episode is that Roberto has an annoying voice. Other than that, it's a great episode.

5/5

9/10

I think yet another Classic. The institution scenes were good, and had plenty of funny jokes. But I mainly like the beginning and ending acts of this episode. They were all funny, had good gags, had a awesome plot, it was really good.

Yeah, this episode is really good. I absolutely adore Roberto in this, and it's really funny the entire way through.

Also could one of the mods edit the production code into the title? It'll make it way easier to find.

8/10

This episode wasn't perfect in my opinion, but I still really did like it. Roberto was funny, and the whole "Fry-thinks-he's-a-robot" thing was pretty hilarious as well.

This was a really creative and memorable episode that I consider to be a classic, partly because of it's original storyline, and partly because it introduces us to Roberto. The scenes with Fry and Bender in the HAL institution were all hilarious, and helped boost this episode in the comedy factor. The scenes at the end of the episode, with Roberto holding the PE crew as captives, were all very well-played, and were actually somewhat suspenseful. A very strong 8/10 from me!

This is perhaps my favorite episode, easily getting an 8/10 if not a 9/10 from me. A wonderful introduction to Roberto, and the court's ignorance to Fry's situation was hilarious. It kind of went downhill after Fry was released from the asylum, in my opinion, but was still very enjoyable. I have always loved things with criminals and loony bins so this episode had me hooked from the beginning. The law system and the treatment of patients in the institution was enough for me to think harder about it, but there was also a good mix of jokes that really made this episode stand out for me.

Indeed. I'd also say it's one of the most highly-regarded episodes. I don't think I've ever seen anyone who hates it.
