I couldn't wait for the commentary to find out but did they blow up the DS9 knock-off because they dislike the show, or was it just a light hearted joke. This has kept me up nights.

I'm betting it was more of a tribute. The staff is full of Trekkies.

Dislike the show???  Nope that's definately not it...  Probably more of an ode to star trek, I hope you can finally find sleep at night.

A lot of trekkies dont like DS9 may they burn for it. If the makers of one of my favourite shows hated one of my other favourite shows id have to rearrange my dvds so they dont touch and that would mess up the the whole alphabetized system..

Blowing up the space station was definetely a tribute. The staff is full of ST fans, particular Cohen sound like a fan). They've already made tributes to TOS, TNG and Voyager, so it was just a matter of time before a DS9 reference would show up (though I had hoped to see a Cardassian in one of them there big alien crowds once).

If you look closely you'll note it's not an exect copy of Deep Space Nine/Terok Nor. There's no habitat ring.

A short line by Fry in "When Aliens Attack".

Fry: "I'm gonna be a science-fiction hero. Just like Uhura, or Captain Janeway, or Xena."

Forgive me but which episode with DS9 blowing up are you referring to?

Here in Oz, we're a wee bit behind and I wait for them to air on TV...

Please fill me in. Unless it's a really old one that I just can't remember...

Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, when Farnsworth is looking for Pizuzu using the Planet Express Ship.

Thanks BNLbum - nup, here in Australia we just got Leela's Homeworld, at least on free-to-air tv anyway.

Look 4ward to seeing DS9 blow up... Love that show.
