Even though i am a huge fan of Futurama i must say there are still jokes that have left me thinking that was a bit crap. My worst joke in Futurama (apart from that Bender is a Pharaoh episode) is the 'i never gave up, once i thought of giving up but i never did. are you even listening....i give up' - bit long and predictable. I still love Futurama and some jokes have left me breathless, but does anyone else think they saw a joke they thought wasnt quite up to Futurama quality?   :puke:

I have to agree that the "Oh, I give up" joke was quite awful. I can't really think of any bad jokes from Futurama right now, but I'd have to say that they'd probably be from Season 1. Not offending any Season 1 fans or anything, but I just think that Season 1 wasn't as funny as the other seasons, despite all the great moments it had.

yer i agree, to no real fault of the writers/ cast cus they had to really introduce characters etc. Also Fry wasnt very good, i dont think he really had any deepth. I would have understood if Fox had canceled Futurama after the first season i probably wouldnt have cared but i really cant understand how they can cancel it after seeing episodes like Jurassic Bark, roswell that ends well and luck of the fryrish. Anyother rubbish jokes?

I thought that at the end of Insane in the Mainframe,
Bender: Fry you've got the heart of a robot, just like in me I got the heart of a human.

*opens chest compartment pulls out human heart*

I found that quite tasteless, and the alternate ending that was on the DVD was much better!

Just out of curiosity, what WAS the alternate ending on the DVD?  :)

@Beamer: Bender plays Napoleon again and does a quick jiggy about Fry, again. I wouldn't have found it quite so funny as the heart joke, but on the DVD it sounds hilarious since David X Cohen sings the last few words making it sound bloody weird   :p

There were several jokes in Less Than Hero that I failed to really find funny - though there were some that I did.   :)

Although I love the episode, I thought that the joke at the start of Time Keeps On Slippin' was really poor.

FRY: So, Leela, how about a romantic ride in one of those swanboats? They're kinda tricky, but I finally mastered them.

LEELA: Those aren't swanboats, they're swans.

FRY: Oh... well that explains these boat eggs.

I didn't like like the guy getting burned in 'Crimes of the Hot', way too Simpson-moderny. And also the laser show thingy Bender did with his antenna in 'Jurassic Bark'.

"A Pharoah To Remember" was a great episode. Anyone who says otherwise is a religious fanatic who can't laugh at him/herself.
I didn't really like the way they ragged on Napster in "I Dated A Robot", but it was still cool. I can laugh at myself like that.
I don't really think there are any BAD jokes in Futurama. Some are poorer than others, yes, but they all range from good to hillarious.

i hated when in Cyberhouse rules, when Leela goes up to warden vogal and he says "your worthless and no one will ever love you" and she just laughs it off saying 'you used to say that all the time' it really made me cringe. No wonder she's screwed up.
and i disliked the scene in Birdbot where Leela basically says that being dead is preferable to being an orphan. if anyone else had said it i wouldn't have thought twice about it but coming from her it was just creepy.

"A Leela of her own" is probaly the weakest episode I've seen. The Pizza making aliens were also pretty bad, badly designed and the italian accent was unoriginal.

In my opinion, there all funny. Of course, there are some jokes not up to par with the ones before, but there are no worst ones. And it may come as a surprise but, I liked the "I Give Up" joke in "A Big Piece Of Garbage". I found it funny, though not halarious.

For me the worst bit was in The Bird Bot of Ice-Catraz. Where bender wears a suit to blend into the crowd. I just groaned when I saw it

The Insane in the Mainframe ending always seemed weird to me. It wasn't unfunny, it just seemed weird. Like the writers thought "hmmm...well, the story's over. What do we do now, to close off the episode?" It doesn't surprise me that they had a lot of alternate gags for that ending.

The "boat eggs" gag was great, but I can see how others would think it's bad. I think we had a whole thread about jokes like these, a long while back. It's not funny, because it's so stupid and unrealistic--but then, the fact that it's so stupid and unrealistic somehow pushes it into another level of funny. It stretches the credibility of the character, but "boat eggs" are so funny and bizarre that I don't care.

The "I give up" joke was bad though. Others that were unfunny: "oh, if only we had a toboggan"; "goodnight you princes of Maine, you princesses of New New England"; others that I can't remember.

Come on Fishy, the toboggan thing was funny, if predictable.

The "princes of Maine, you princesses of New New England" line I agree what way to obscure to work, anyone who hadn't seen the Cider House Rules wouldn't have a clue in the world.

I can't remember it exactly, but I don't like the joke in (i think it was) a big piece of garbage where Fry explains how one day his toilet was broken and instead he used the garbage can. I think it doesn't fit to the usual humour. Not because it's a poop joke, just because it's too dumb (as someone also mentions in the DVD commentary).

The "I give up" joke wasn't in A Pharaoh To Remember, it was in A Big Piece Of Garbage.

No, it was in A Big Piece Of Garbage - when Fry tells Farnsworth not to give up his dreams of making the smelloscope. Fry says it around about the 6 and a half minute mark in the episode. If you still don't believe me, check out the Big Piece Of Garbage sound downloads from CGEF.
