Yes. During a Simpsons commercial. I couldn't believe my eyes. I guess they learned from CN what a little promoting can do.

From "The Sting" I guess. I can only remember Leela standing in a room saying what she said and Hermes and Amy doing roller disco.

I bet the FOX execs were thinking this when they said "show a Futurama ad".

Yeah. Run ads AFTER you've cancelled the show. That's irony for ya.

WOW! Truly? This is the first time in about 3 years! Maybe they're trying to see if they could bring it back... Probably not though, just milking the last episodes so they can get everyone really excited for the "Series Finale" in a few weeks.

That's not irony. That's stupidity.

I missed the chance to see the ads, but I'll have to see if they show any more during the weekend.

Spanghewed has a good point, though. FOX probably wanted to wrap things up with the series as cleanly as they could. At least it beats letting the series die with a whimper.

Something isn't quite right here... I mean I don't want to sound negative but first three weeks of new Futuramas on Fox and than they start running promos just for the Futurama episode without it following a promo for a new Simpsons or KotH. Something is incredibly wronf or hell just froze over.

That IS incredible. Although I seriously doubt we'll see any more eps. Did someone over at FOX get fired?

BTW, I just got a call from my buddy "downstairs". (Yeah, WAY downstairs.) He said "Damn, it's f$cking cold down here!"

I'm sure Fox is just being their own stupid self. Don't expect more episodes. If it does well, they'll just accidentally cancel it or something. :P

We should have made that petition "How to run a network TV station" #1 Run ad #2 cancel show and now the tricky part... do not #1 cancel show #2 run ad.  Remeber thats #1 Run ad #2 cancel show not #1 cancel show #2 run ad.

Heh, as pathetic as Fox's promotion for the show is, its not TOTALLY unheard of to air an ad.  I think I remember some during season three, like a "When Penguins Attack" joke one for an obvious episode and one where the Fox lights blind pilots for Fox's plane crash scenes in the Harold Zoid one (for some reason I just forgot the title).  Last season I remember one or two for the reruns they were doing on Thursday out of desperation to fill those slots, when Family Guy was often taking up an hour or more.  And also last season, I remember a "valentines day" ad for several sunday shows airing around that time, with a brief clip of Bender with Lucy Liu in his case "Lucy Liu is the only girl for Bender" "I love you Be..".  And I also remember an ad for "Leela's Homeworld" with the "I didn't want you to hurt me either" gag, though the ad was seemingly only played during the syndication/local stuff during the day, no prime time.

So, its not totally unheard of.  Its sad how much my local station plays into it though.  Unlike with, say, The Simpsons' season premiere, they don't do anything on the local news.  And I remember watching a syndicated Simpsons rerun right before "Jurassic Bark" aired, and they had your typical annoying voice talking over the credits and telling me about Sunday's lineup, but they said "it all starts tonight at 7:00" (we get Futurama at 6:00 here), and skipped telling me anything about Jurassic Bark even exsisting.

Well with Futurama being on Cartoon Network now, do you think there's a snowball's chance in hell that they would renew it?

This has been discussed before.  Basically, Cartoon Network probably isn't willing to spend the money for a new season, assuming it even has the money.  They did spend a ton for the rerun rights, but remember, they got 70+ episodes for the price of (maybe) one new season.  New episodes would get better ratings, but it probably wouldn't be cost-effective to make them.

They are, but it'll come back.  They're just taking it off for a short period to keep it from getting stale, since you can only rerun the same 50 something episodes so many times before people tire of them.  They did the same with Home Movies recently, took it off, then brought it back a month or two later with new episodes.  By that token, I think the remaining 16 episodes (Mcseason 5)  are supposed to air when it comes back from that hiatus.  Any news when the hiatus finishes?

Ok, what about UPN or WB as the new home for Futurama. They are already paying to produce some of the worst crap on television. Why not pay for some quality TV that already has a big following?

Cartoon Network isn't cancelling Futurama, they're just putting it on a short hiatus.
