I decided to write *SPOILER* in the title because otherwise my question would have to be in one too, and probably this whole thread...

This is what we know about 'Bend Her'...

'Bender gets to know the advantages and disadvantages of being a fembot. As a fembot. The sex change allows him to take part in the robot Olympics.'

I was doing some thinking about this, but I just couldn't work out what Olympic sport Bender would want to get a sex change for. I was just wondering, what do you think, has anyone got any ideas? smile

Maybe because he thinks that Fembots can do better things then manbot so maybe he get a sex change to do batter things then he can do before.

Maybe he wants to be the Fatima Whitbread of the Robot Olympics  tongue

Or the Robot Olympics are for fem-bots only.

He can compete in the women's sports which are, stereotypically (not always true - don't lash out at me for being stereotypical) less competitive than men's sports.

G'uh.
blahness

maybe he figures that he can dominate the competition by getting a sex change. or maybe he only qualifies for the olympics as a woman.. he couldnt meet the standards for manbots

Well, this can be explained short and simple.

Knowing WOMEN are always weaker he figures he can change himself to a fembot to enter the ranks, easily crushing the fembots!!!1!

Maybe bending an olympic sport, and this way he would only have to bend hangers instead of I-beams. Hey in the robot league blurnsball, they made a howitzer into a pitcher.   big grin

Maybe he's really passionate about a particular sport and that sport is dominated by women, and so to participate in this "special event" he make great sacrifice. I'm thinking that he might be interested in synchronized swimming or something because that's the only one I could think of. I mean, when was the last time you saw a guy doing that.

Any thoughts?

Field hockey is a wonmen sport as well, might be a possibility.
Or he could have been kicked out of a mens sport and to become a fembot to compete in the womans versoin of the guys sport.  Like that crappy movie about the basketball player that gets kicked out the NBA, dresses up like a woman and plays in the WNBA. ???

Yeah, that sounds like pretty possible   smile One thought I had, I wonder if this sport could have anything to do with folk singing? But I doubt he'd need a sex change for that, hmmmm...

HAHAHAHA, yeah that was the movie, omg, my sister forced me to watch it with her.  But, its possible, that bender does something to get kicked out of a sport and has to comepete as a womean.  Maybee cause he is a convicted felon, and the sex change wipes his record clean?  (same reason he cant vote)

Christopher Guest and Martin Short on Saturday Night Live a couple decades ago. Great sketch.

Probably like the one in "Fry and The Slurm Factory". It was even John DiMaggio who did the voice of the man/fem-bot.

I've always said this episode have the highest chance of outright suckage. Really, Bender becomes a fem-bot. How does that signal quality?

Anybody remember the worst ST episode ever made? "Profit & Lace" from DS9? What was that episode about? Quark becoming a woman!

This episode have "Profit & Lace" written all over it. But I'll wait to pass final judgement 'till I see the episode.

I guess this ep could suck, but I'm really looking foward to it. I know a lot of people didn't like 'A Phoarah to Remember', and even though I quite liked it, I doubt they'll make the same mistake twice  smile

I do think the Futurama team is up to the challenge, it's just episodes such as these two (Profit & Lace, Bend Her)  have a tendency to be either a) overly preachy or b) toe-cringing painful to watch.

I liked the episode too.  Wouldn't you just love to push Elton John down a deep hole?

I think this one really depends on the plot line, if there is a good/interesting/funny reason for bender to become a fembot.  If its just a random sex change, its probably going to suck donkey balls.  Ggood plot = good ep.

oh come on, don't be so negative, we all know what weird plots, Matt can suck out of his twisted brain. I mean, it may very well suck, but it also may be hilarious.
