I like the penguins
they were the right mix of cute and humorous and deadly

although i have to admit i was a bit embarrassed that I totally missed that huge star wars ref.

It seemed along the lines of an average futurama episode (which is way better than other tv episodes).  Zoidberg was good.  i'd give it a thumbs up

THE GOOD
Free Waterfall Sr. Every word he said was funny. And his father: "I'll avenge your death, son!"

Penguins. They're inherently funny.

Leela looks so cute in a parka.

Zoidberg was in fine form this week.

THE BAD:
Last week, she didn't get any lines... this week, she didn't even get a cameo! (You KNOW who I'm talking about...)

Final score: C- (would be a B+, but it loses a grade and a half because you-know-who is missing)

hehe, thats why i wouldnt give it an A-- but after rewatching it with someone else (that sort of makes them more funny, dunno why) i'm at B+ now  :) although the most laughing out loud jokes (yeah, finally some for me) were more or less stupid, like "guess thats why chief ses no hugin" or "wiggles ??"

anyway B+ which is damn good for a new writer

I really liked this one. Unlike the last two episodes I was laughing all the time. I have to see it again for more detailed reviews.
I'm glad the humour is back in Futurama =:-)

I give it an A-, it had a nice mix of action and humor.  I wish they would of went more on the violent penguins though but O~well, I'll live.

I thought this was a vast improvement over last week, I loved the Star Wars gag, as well as tie in with earlier episdoes (The alchol, and Free Waterfall Snr.) Wasn't as funny as usual but it made up for with action and killer penguins

I only got to see the second half, but I thought it was dang funny.  I mean, Bender as a penguin?  Sitting on the eggs, feeding the babies?  How can you not like that, besides the fact that penguins are inheirently(sp?) funny.

I liked it, they had some good Zoidberg jokes, penguins are great, and who couldn't love Fry flying the Planet Express Ship? ...However, Fry does seem to be improving on flying the ship. He was flying great in the last scene! And, at the risk of sounding like a non-Star Wars fan (which I'm fast becoming), what Star Wars refrence? *Dodges rocks being throw at head*

~Bummin'~
Leela was training me to be captain! She even let me sit on her lap and steer! ...In this comic I drew.

When bender landed on his head in the ice, he made the R2D2 noise.  Like when R2D2 was zapped by those hooded litle creatures... uh oh now I'm forgetting

Grrrr...somebody hold me back.

Really though, don't worry...I am a huge Star Wars nerd and even I missed the reference at first. Oh well.

I thought the episode was great. It had lots of funny stuff, including a clever in-joke that only fans would get(Free Waterfall Sr.). Continuity makes me feel loved.

I just about died laughing at the wacky sound effects "added to lessen tragedy". Zoidberg and Farnsworth were their normal great selves, and who didn't applaud the reappearance of the finglonger?

In fact the only part I didn't like was the toboggan(?...I'm too lazy to check the spelling on that) thing. It was cringe-inducingly predictable. But hey, nothing's perfect--the episode was still cool.  There hasn't been an episode this great since Amazon Women In The Mood.

1st of all- you are a damn dirty hack and you know it.  thats my phrase!

#B did anyone think the toboggan thing was too similar to fry riding the professor-bike in bendless love? hmm? it was kinda "cute" when bender told fry to bring in his toboggan though

Cool, thanks a lot. I pride myself on coming up with original, witty sayings that I can use in reviews of animated sitcoms.

Yeah, especially since it was shown in the commercials for the episode.

I had a feeling someone would point that out--it was predictable in the commercial too. Plus the setup line, "If only we had a toboggan!" seemed awkward...it slowed down the action. I don't know, the whole gag just didn't fly with me. A low point in an otherwise great episode.

well, a friend of mine who hadn't seen the screenshot/commercial laughed 'at' that scene.

well you could use toboggan as a verb or noun in english, but the word generally is a little out of date.  at least no one i know says toboggan.  we say sled  :)

This was a great episode. The continuity tie-ins with Free Waterfall Snr. and The Finglonger made me laugh, and reminded me how much Groening and Cohen love us nerds. I missed abit of Bender becoming a penguin cause I laughed for way too long at the Star Wars tie-in me and my friends caught on the first try. I didn't like the first toboggan joke, but when Bender told Fry to bring his toboggan, that was damn funny. Great Episode defenitly more fun than the latest episodes

A toboggan is a specific type of sled.  If you read the classic comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, you'll know that Calvin rides one of two sleds.  One is the traditional type of sled with runners, and the other looks like a long plank of wood that was curled aroung in the front, kinda like this, _____) . That is a toboggan.

All awards for this episode go to Bender, Fry and Zoidberg for the Captain and Crew jokes. Bender as Captain, Wiggles...sorry...Fry, for the first mate and Zoidberg for being the suck up cabin boy/stewerd.

thanks for the illustration
i'm not really that stupid
and its funny to hear calvin and hobbes called a "classic" although i guess it isnt current anymore.  makes me feel old

anyway- at the risk of digging myself in deeper -do people use tobaggans nowadays?  i thought saucers were all the rage?  and 1000 years from now i'm think that they'd be completely "out"

well i hope you all had a good laugh at my expense  :( lol

I LOVE THAT EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awwwww the ep is so cute in some parts, Leela and Zoidberg were good in the ep but Fry was being such an ASS. Calling bender names was really bad  :(

The Penguins were great, I love the two of them with guns at the end that makes me laugh.

Bender as a Penguin was so cute, it brought tears to me eyes, I was a be scared that I though Bender was going to mate with one of the Penguins phew lucky that didn't happen. I know it's sick but I think it was cute were Bender feeds the babies Penguins awww hehe :)

Free Water Snr was weird, I mean would you guys feel your crouch with cold snow? :P

Oh I almost forgot I love it when Bender was Captain and it's good to see him sober again  :)

The only thing I didn't like was Leela being bitchy about her "causes".  I hope they don't make a habit of it.  It would seriously jeopardize her babe-o-licious status.
