I thought The Matrix was crap. No offence to any Matrix fans here - but the movie just seemed to solely rely on it's special effects to carry it through, and nothing else.

Yes, the first had artistic credibility.
The problem was that they consulted fanboys on the official forums for ideas, so you know what the outcome would have been.

The matrix was really good when i first saw it about three years ago but after watching it recently i found the screenplay cliched and the story pretty stupid. I have become alot more critcal of movies over the years, i'm guessing i would of enjoyed Matrix 2 if i saw it when i was less critical.

My friends make fun of me for hating Matrix Reloaded they say i don't understand it which really annoys me. I'm the only one who sees past the action sequences and sees a stupid plot bad screen play and crap acting. It caters perfectly for the stupid teenage boys who like slow mo dancing and sex scenes.
