Last week or so a friend of mine who posts on a Star Trek board discovered David A Goodman (a later co-executive producer and writer of Where No Fan Has Gone Before) also posts there. Goodman said to posters he would be happy to answer questions about the WNFHGB to anyone and my friend suggested to me I gather up some questions from here and he'll PM them to Goodman.

So everyone very quickly post a question here but don't post ones like "Do you think Fox are bastards?" or "When are the DVD's out in <a country>?" Just ask about his episode or about some behind the scenes stuff and stuff like that.

I'll wait about a day or so for you to post your questions then I'll email them over to my friend who will do the rest.

Thanks Smitty, I aint seen WNFHGB, but here's my question(s).

How difficult was it to write an episode with so many celebrity voices in it? Were there any funny lines you wanted to hear the ST crew say but didn't write into the episode?

COOL!

"Even though the Welshy jokes were hillarious, why didn't the episode feature James Doohan? Health problems?"

"How did William Shatner react to the character of Zapp Brannigan? In fact what did the TOS cast think of the jokes about their characters/themself?"

"Does any of the cast watch Futurama?"

Dman I suck at this.

"Do you have pets?"

"I saw Captain Jonathan Archer together with a guy in American Beauty. Is he gay? Please tell me he isn't gay!"

more serious:

"How is producing a sci-fi cartoon series different from producing a normal sci-fi series?"

"Did the TOS crew have any say in what their 2D aliases looked like?"

"How much better of an episode would it have been had Deforest Kelly still been alive?"

I expect to see the answers posted here, young man.

"Did anyone come up with any lines that DeForest Kelley could have said, had he still been alive?"

"Did anyone do any brainstorming on a Zoidberg-McCoy scene?"

Obviously, they would have had to write Zoidberg into the episode, but that would have been perfect.

Damn, that still depresses me that De couldn't be in it.

I am glad that they had the sense not to try to fake McCoy's voice.

"When sign makers go on strike, is anything written on their signs?"

"How did you convince Shatner to do a spoken word version of "The Real Slim Shady" and how in the world did you get Eminem or whoever controls the rights to the song to allow it?"

(Not a question, but I hope you post it as well)
"Thanks for producing such a great episode!"

Come on guys, don't fill this thread up with useless crud that Smitty isn't going to use.  Then the people with real questions don't get to hear any answers.

Smitty, when will you be PMing Goodman, and when will we see the responces?

"Why do you care about Star Trek fans more than us?"

"You wrote for Family Guy too, right? Which writing staff is sexier--Family Guy, or Futurama?"

After two very "shippy" episodes (production order) showing Fry and Leela getting closer romanticaly, "Where No Fan" completely ignored this series arc.

Why? - was the episode planned out long before the others or was there some other reason?

PS, I'm not really a Shipper, but this was pointed out in another thread and peaked my interest.

I'd like to secind the question about Bill Shatner/Zapp Brannigan. If you don't get a chance to answer them all, please answer this one! Even if you have to do it crypticalaly.

I'll get the more serious questions emailed off now   :)

Apparently he doesn't log in that often so I don't know how long it will be before they come back. I doubt it will be any later than the weekend though.
