So is anybody actually playing this game regularly?  I've been doing it, and it's had its rewarding moments.  Judging by the comments on the subreddit for the game, I'm way behind, but I don't care.

I'm playing it regularly. I agree it has its rewarding moments but, much like most other mobile games, I wish there were more actual gameplay and less trying to get me to pay money to progress.

Top of the page I think the link to my old TOTPD gif is broken these days!

I've been playing regularly, too. And posting on the subreddit. Really, the only way to stay on pace and not fall behind is to actively read the subreddit so you know all of the ways to advance as fast as possible without having to pay money to progress (which just reeks of bad game design).

The current Halloween event has been absolutely horrible. I had never rage quit before, until I played this game. Weeks of bombless runs on those event missions (because they don't give us enough bombs to do the missions properly, so that we can pay money to progress) made me rage quit towards the end of week 3 of the event. But, like a true addict fan, I came back within a couple days.

I'm just waiting for this event to be over so I can get back to progressing in the main storyline. I can only hope it's a good, long while before they throw another month-long event at us.

I read the sub every once in a while, but I hadn't been for a bit, so I didn't even know the Slurm thing was such a short event.  Well, at least I've made some progress on the main storylines.

One thing I've learned from the sub is that most games of this genre run by TinyCo start off with weekly events at the beginning of the game, and then increasingly have more and more monthly events as things get settled. Eventually, every event is a monthly event.

Halloween was the game's second month-long event (after the Omicronian invasion which was probably in August). There has been no official confirmation yet, but everyone in the sub is assuming that a month-long Xmas event will start at the end of November, and that the featured character to defeat and collect at the end of the event will be Robot Santa (similar to Lrr for the Omicronian Invasion and Robot Devil for Halloween).

Mmm.  Well, I didn't see Lrrr because I didn't start playing seriously until the podcast came out, and I didn't get the Robot Devil because I was too far behind.  But I'm doing ok on the Thanksgiving event, and I've finally got my go-to party over level 25.  So I expect I might be able to actually get some shit accomplished on the Xmas event.  What's your reddit handle?  I'm subframespacer.

I'm enjoying the game.

I mean, it's barely a game. It's more of a carefully designed skinner box that tricks me into experiencing Futurama-themed endorphins, but I've made my peace with that.

I mean, there's next to no actual gameplay. It's just "tap this", then "wait six hours and come back" and if you do that, sometimes you "win".

Gotcha.  That sucks.  Why can't they learn to remake Final Fantasy 1?

I've been playing the game less and less. It takes constant attention and effort in order to keep up, especially when you started a couple months after the game launched and are trying to complete everything. I might kind of be done with the game, which is fine for a few reasons.

One, I started playing simply for the Futurama experience, and had no clue what this type of game was like. I had no clue that the game was designed to go on forever with new events every week. I'm not going to play it forever, anyways, so it's just a matter of when. I just happen to be losing steam around now.

Two, the game is an obvious cash grab. A premium character costs at least $10. Pizza is prohibitively expensive and doesn't go very far for how much it costs.

Three, I'm finally going to have my Xbox set up again in a few days. :D I won't want to play that much of a mobile game when I've got months, nay, years, of console gaming to catch up on.

Getting back into this game now that I finally have an iPhone (goodbye, Android). Thankfully, all my progress was carried over because it was linked to my Facebook account (something the Game of Drones app is severely lacking. You can link your profile but it doesn't carry your progress over to other devices).

The timed events are pretty much designed to force you to pay real cash to unlock the exclusives, which is why I almost completely ignore them & just focus on building my NNY & unlocking story characters & whatnot. I'm not against paying real cash for a character I may be desperate for, but the timed stuff is just a joke.

They've just massively overhauled this game with a huge update and now it's really complicated and I don't understand it any more.

I guess it's a good thing, though. It should add to the thing's lifespan.

I don't mind the event timings for the most part. Once you've caught up with the main storyline, it's fairly easy to keep up with the event stuff, too (or, at least, it was before this update just now - that might change things seeing as characters can now be levelled up to at least level 80). Premium content is ridiculous, but it's usually not much of a help with regards to actually completing an event, anyway.

Not so sure if it's a good thing. It seems that when your character reaches every 10th level, you need to use a new collectible to allow them to continue ranking up. You can only get these collectibles by playing a daily mission or buying them with real money. They've literally just made it even harder to play without opening your wallet (all for the sake of PvP battles).

The change seems to be very unpopular on the subreddit (and presumably everywhere else).

Personally, I think that deepening the gameplay is, in general, a smart move. However, it seems that TinyCo went too far too fast, whereas they should have added these features incrementally. Besides, it's a bizarrely stupid move to implement all of these major changes in the middle of a grindfest-riddled major event.

I'm feeling better about having stopped playing.

Reminds me of Stranger in a Strange Land.

The Valentine's event seems much more do-able than events prior! Not sure about grinding for orbs for characters, though.

This game reminded me that PEEL existed, but it's pushing its luck with how much grinding you have to do to get characters up to level 30, never mind much higher than that. Once I finish the Zoidberg district I'm probably done.
