I'd liked to have seen a proper Christmas episode in the new run, with Robot Santa and deadly rampages and things like that. The Holiday Spectacular was a poor excuse for a Holiday Special, especially when comapred (sic) to Xmas Story and A Tale of Two Santas.
This. And a conclusion would've been nice (although not necessary), Robot Santa reprogrammed to lower standards of nice.
Did he stop with the killing sprees after the events of Bender's Big Score? I seem to remember him saying he didn't feel like it after being scammed.

Surely he continued the yearly killing spree after scammers were destoroyed. After all, what would a traditional xmas be without the fear that brings people together. I mean, I don't think it necessarily needs any conclusion as the origin was just mentioned as an explanation and it's the main aspect of xmas in Futurama anyway.

Yeah, it seems like the comment about not feeling like it was only specific to that year. I don't think there's any reason to assume they stopped after Bender's Big Score (the sprees, that is; not the actual episodes :p).

I know TFHS isn't canon (thank God  :nono: ), but Santa made no hesitation to shoot the shit out of everybody there.

I don't think anybody blames you for wiping parts of that episode from your memory,  Lambda. :p

I was actually quite neutral towards the episode at first, but after repeat viewings it becomes increasingly ridiculous.
On a personal note though, I should really watch the whole episodes right before I make posts.

I really would have liked an actual Halloween episode. Thoe only one that comes marginally close is "The Honking"

Oh yeah, how could I forget that?! *facepalm* And I suppose you could count the Murder on the Planet Express as well. But also none of the episodes are set at the time of Halloween. They have Christmas, even Oktoberfest and an "earth day". I get we have AoI eps, but really they're non-canon. I would have liked a canon Halloween Ep.

They should've gone back to New Year's Eve 1999 more often.

I'd have liked to have seen more episodes that feature the entire Planet Express crew, the way 'Parabox', 'Benda', and "MOTPE' did. It's not exactly something the series really should've had, I just would've enjoyed it if there were more. These types of episodes usually give us a little more background information on the characters, which is always nice, and are very funny, as the Crew typically has more to work with.

This may sound odd, but to be honest, I would've liked a Thanksgiving episode.

Could've made for a nice little Fry flashback story, too.

It would be funny if it was about how Thanksgiving celebration has changed, but personally I'm fed up with flashback centric episode. I'd be fine with one or two scenes.

Plus, all of their holiday-themed episodes are about how [insert holiday here] has changed.

To clarify: Do you mean that there's too much of it, or that it was obvious?  :shifty:
Either way, to me that is basically what Futurama is about, how things have changed in general.

True, though they took that particular route with holidays so many times, I'd have liked to have seen a different approach if they ever tried a new one.

Speaking of, did we ever see any of Morbo's race aside from Morbo?

We saw Morbo's wife in "Three Hundred Big Boys" (I think) and I'm pretty sure that we saw some sort of army General from his race on a TV chat-show at the start of a season 7 episode.

Also, we saw some of them playing holophonors in a season 7 episode.

About Morbo's people taking over Earth:

Morbo's thing was hinting impending doom, that will never be played out. His people actually conquering Earth would therefore destroy his most characteristic running gag.

Also, Morbo's panic in "When Aliens attack" already showed him being a mere big talker about invasion/war. The first one to shit his pants and cry for help when things ACTUALLY get serious. His job as anchorman fits quite well into the "talks, but does not act" scheme.

I could imagine Morbo's people trying to conquer Earth and meeting the Omicronians at exactly the same time, trying to do the same once more.
It sounds like some overdue-expected joke to me.  Yet, this joke alone still does not legitimate klling off Morbo's running gag, at least not in an episode. But a four parter movie with epic undertones might be worth that sacrifice.
