I'm very happy this didn't end up being 7ACV25, as was originally planned. It would have hated to have left the series with such a sour taste in my mouth.
Yeah, that would suck.
I always considered this one mostly fun, mostly cause the stories weren't equally good, but overall it's quite an enjoyable ep, a
6/10 from me.
I remember considering
Bendie Boo! and the Mystery Crew my favourite but now I see it's avarage, but saved by a few great parts like intro, the door gag, another Ohio Express Song. My mine gripe with this segment and also the entire episode is they should make Reincarnation II and parody a general style, but here the creators clinged to specific cartoons and parodied them. With Reincarnation the jokes are rich, like in the Fleischer style cartoon they can have many references from Fleischer, to Disney and Betty Boop, here they are limited to Scooby Doo. It's a tricky one cause it felt too much like some Scooby Doo clone with some referential jokes. Anyway, it's funny enough to enjoy it. Loved the dark humor ending with Zoidberg's head... but the casting was not perfect. Hermes was Fred because they needed someone as Fred but no one from PE really matched. Teenage Leela with glasses/braces should be Velma and Amy would be better as Daphne.
7/10Purpleberry Pond - I admit I skipped this one after first Professor/Zoidy scene. It's the same joke all over again and another example of childish Futurama shit like Yo Leela Leela and The Prince and the Product. Why they are still making this? It's made for their children or what? Anyway, the only redeeming parts are the Professor and Zoidberg scenes, despite them being the same scene but in different context. So if this is unwatchable then deserves a
2/10 or less.
G.I. Zapp - that one grew up on me. It's funny Zapp-antics episode with classic Zapp moves like "I forgot my parachute so borrowed yours, Kiff". What really elevated the story was Nixon's censorship. So many GREAT jokes. Beam me up, Scotty! Bloe them straight to church! Patriotic peacekeepers who rebuild schools with their bullet-sucking vacuum tanks! Bastards! It's okay if I say it! Love it, still it ends abruptly and the PSA with Dwight and Cubert is pretty random. Meh ending to great segment,
9/10I almost forgot it had a framing story with Nixon and Agnew watching cartoons. Nothing that really elevated this anthology most of the time, but when it got to G.I. Zapp - it was brilliant! Generally speaking it could have been a good anthology ep, but was dragged down by Purpleberry Pond - a little, it was the shortest one at least!
