His mom's in the commercial for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2wX29pEBeU

Not sure how I feel about this.

Nobody missed Fry when he got frozen - that's what made it so cool. But suddenly there's Seymour - which I didn't mind too much. Then we found out his dad always loved him with 'Cold Warriors'...now we see his mom hugging him. His mom who was always so delightfully neglectful. It was dark and brilliant; but I'm worried they're undoing it completely at this point. Time will tell.

EDIT: FIRST EVER TOP OF THE PAGE DANCE!!!

In "Spanish Fry" Fry was originally supposed to notice his missing nose through the reflection of Bender's Shiny Metal Ass, but it was thought the episode was already dirt enough.  The Scary Door segment from this episode was originally going to be a part of "The Birdbot of Ice-Catraz".

According to the commentary, In "Where No Fan Has Gone Before" there was an idea of a fight between a giant Leonard Nimoy & a giant William Shatner.

The accusing parlour scene in "30% Iron Chef" was around ten times longer & The Professor would find Fry's hair taped to the bottle.

It was said at one point that broadcast season 10 would feature an episode about Scruffy's origins. Broadcast season 10 isn't over yet, but I think it's safe to say that this isn't happening.

Originally "Game of Tones" would feature "Party like it's 1999" in the montage with Fry & his family.  The shazam scene from this episode originally featured Bender saying a song about how great he is with Shazam recognizing it as "Bender is Great by Bender".

The working title for Bendin' in the Wind was " The Times They Are A-Bendin' "

And "Roswell that Ends Well" was originally going to be titled "All's Well in Roswell".

Here are a ton of unused title captions.
http://theinfosphere.org/Unused_Title_Captions

Yo Leela Leela alternate ending:  Instead of adopting the orphans, Abner Doubledeal opens an amusement park on Rumbledy-Hump, and takes a majority share of income due to the Humplings having a terrible lawyer. A mortified Leela complains about the park, but the Humplings announce their joy at being famous. Warden Vogel thanks Leela for providing the orphans with a field trip. Leela begs for everyone to blame her, but is given a bat by the orphans, which she uses to beat up the lawyer.

Neutopia alternate ending: Professor Farnsworth announces that Planet Express is being foreclosed upon, and Leo and Inez Wong enter the room with a real estate agent, apparently househunting. This leads to them buying & saving the company.

In an early script, Fry was supposedly a watchman at Applied Cryogenics, and wasn't a delivery boy at all, something which obviously became a major plot device in the final episode. After coming out of the tube, an early script had him being sold for organs to the professor at an auction, or one where he was forced immediately to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty caught him.

Here's an idea Futurama should've used.   A parody of 'Taken' with Bender and Hermes in the Liam Neeson role.  And Fry, Leela, and Zoidberg would not be in it.  (because they wouldn't work in the story) Though, Amy shows up at the end.

When Family Guy spoofed this movie, it was just an excuse for Brian and Stewie to have another adventure together.  Futurama should have done Taken, not Family Guy!

But your idea sounds like a re-hased version of "Lethal Inspection"... :hmpf:

Also, Futurama should've done a spoof of Total Recall and Fu Manchu.

Bender and Hermes deserved to have another adventure together.  Well, maybe the comics will do that....

A Mad Men parody would've been awesome!  Wouldn't anyone have loved to have seen Bender as Don Draper?

A full-blown Mad Men parody wouldn't work in the Futuramaverse. A little nod, maybe, but an entire episode? We all saw how terrible The Simpsons' Mad Men spoof was. A Total Recall parody could've been good, though.

Also, you realise this thread is for abandoned ideas from the Futurama writers, and not just "stuff you'd like to see," right?

There should've been an AOI that has the Crew reenact Monty Python sketches.  Self Defense with Fresh Fruit, It's the End, and "I wish To Report a Buglary" ones!

My Bender and Hermes idea about them being like LIam Neeson in Taken will _not_ be a rehash of Lethel Inspection.  It's just them going to Paris looking for missing friends.

Also, back in 2003 when the show was cancelled the first time around, there was a robot that was never used.

I found this in an article about Futurama.

Futurama could have been the exploits of Curtis Fry and his robot buddy URL (pronounced Earl). Doesn’t your skin just crawl at the thought? Fry’s name changed to allow for the previously mentioned tribute to Hartman while URL became the name of the robot peace officer.

More last minute than those was what happened to Hermes. Originally named Dexter, he wasn’t meant to be Jamaican until Phil LaMarr suddenly did it in recording. That’s why his limbo past wasn’t revealed until later; the writers needed time to create this new character.

Kurt isn't human and doesn't listen to reason. He's a robot designed to read every third word of a thread and then auto-generate a nonsense response that's completely unrelated to what's actually being discussed, before disappearing into the night like code melting from the chalkboard of an overworked college professor, killing him.

in my opinion, Leela is "the other" because only Leela that makes Fry (the most important guy in the universe), save the universe and/or stay in 31st century. So, she is the second most important people in the universe.

It can be interpreted that way, though I still think that line was written as a way to leave the door open for a potential third installment in the Nibblonian/brain saga. The writers probably didn't have all that much of a plan for it beyond that, so wrote that line vague so it could apply either way depending on whether or not they ever made more.

Parasites Lost: During the writing process there was an idea for Fry to sleep with Leela and the worms to take over her body and form a two headed being

Decision 3012:  Leela was at one point going to run for president instead of Chris Travers, and she was also considered to be his Vice President.  Chris Travers was going to be born a woman at his live-broadcasted birth, and then he would say "I had a sex change" and he would lose for that reason.

That Parasites Lost idea would have been sick! I'm putting bets that FOX censored that. And the Decision 3012 idea sucked, I'm glad they changed it.

That Decision 3012 idea was terrible. That would've ruined the entire episode, at least for me. I'm happy they changed it, as the final version turned out to be pretty good.

The Parasites Lost idea could've worked, if not for that two-headed monster crap. How would that make any sense at all? Glad they rid of that one, too, as the final PL turned out to be great as well.

^My saying.
Also, I like the idea of Nibbler being sneaky:  Upon hearing that Leela is the reason for Fry to save the universe, he makes up stuff to persuade Fry he has a chance ("He will only save the universe to get that girl? Well..lets just tell him he has a chance to get him moving").  Afair, Nibbler just told Fry not to give up on Leela. It was never directly mentioned that Fry getting together with Leela does have an acutal meaning/is significant for the universe's survival, etc...

I would say that Leela is the 2nd most important person in the Futurama universe!  ;)

Anyone else wonder what Fry and Leela's child, boy or girl, might be like?

Orange hair and one eye, or purple hair and two eyes. Or something completely different, considering that Fry and Leela's ancestors didn't look exactly like them.
