Wow, I saw a preview of Assie Come Home as well. Nice to see a return of the Porn Monster. It looks like this is where the season starts to go uphill.  :D Calculon 2.0 was good. But nothing more. And I like that. All I expected, as well.

Bender robbing God's greatest treasure eh. That'd actually have been a cool episode if it was made, though I do wonder if it would've been the robot God at the end of GitM or the God made of stars from Goodfellas (assuming it actually is God).

Yeah, the Fry/Leela interplay was pretty funny. I liked her PSA-like line about gang violence, and the way Fry just confusedly shrugged it off.

I have no idea whether or not "Assie Come Home" will be a good episode--that clip was solid, though the stuff with the gang members may have gone on a wee bit too long--but if it is a trio-focused episode along the lines of, say, "The Honking"--or even the (unfairly, in my opinion) maligned "Forty Percent Leadbelly"--I could totally be on-board with it.

I keep telling you guys all the freelance scripts will be great.
And that all the final episodes will be good, perhaps even Rowe's last episode.

It was the regular writers who got burned out this year in the middle of the 26 episode order, It was quite obvious around "Naturama" they got burned out.

Here you go.

That made me...cringe. *shudder*

That the Cruds and Quips or whatever had green skin didn't matter--you could still hear the urbanized accent that is the stereotype of gangbangers. Yeah, okay, it's probably not a stereotype but an accepted truism, but such a similarity to the world we live in just makes it out of place in Futurama. And it just didn't strike me as funny. They're like that streetracing gang in the horrible 2DB episode.

This seems like something that the Simpsons would come up with. I'm hoping that this episode has much better content.

Indeed.
The new run is sometimes a tad too present-day-y.

The early run incorporated new themes/designs. It told the viewer "Society might have changed, technology has changed...but in a certain way, people remained the same".
E.g. "I dated a Robot": A complete new technology, and what do people do with it? Yet, they find some way of illegal downloading, and act like 20th century folks.

Compared to "Attack of the Killer App", which put Twitter nearly unchanged in the 30th century.

The preview featured basically a 21st century street gang. I would prefer some strange aliens, with strange behaviours, that slowly serve the viewer the observation "Hm..come to think of it, they are not too different from early Street Gangs".

I agree with everything sparky and IH said; I hope most of the episode doesn't take place with the gangs around since I found them so unfunny and reminiscent of the 2-D Blacktop racing gang. However, I did enjoy Fry and Leela's interaction, so that made the clip a bit better for me.

As Gorky said, though, I'd really love it if this is a trio-focused episode. If most of ACH concentrates on the three of them searching for Bender's body without the gangs present, I think it could be a very enjoyable and fun episode.

Well, most likely that's all we see from those gangs, afterall,
And we've seen pictures of bottom of the sea and that porn-shop monster, so it's likely to be asstrio-focused with all kinds of encounters.

I think it's kind of plot that I could like very much (like Free Will Hunting), but it may fail easily (like Free Will Hunting (partly)).

I think the final six episodes will be great!
And for those who live in a cave with no internet until today, here are the final briefs for the last episodes:

Assie Come Home - Bender searches the entire universe for his missing shiny metal ass.
Leela and the Genestalk - Leela's DNA triggers a rare condition causing her to grow tentacles, leading her to Mom's secret genetic engineering facility.
Game of Tones - The crew seeks the meaning of a strange alien melody by taking a journey into Fry's dreams.
Murder on the Planet Express - The crew becomes trapped on the ship with a deadly shapeshifting alien creature.
Stench and Stenchibility - Dr. Zoidberg meets the love of his life; Bender performs in a deadly tap dancing competition.
Meanwhile - Fry asks Leela to marry him; meanwhile the Professor's latest invention alters the fabric of time.

"Game of Tones", "Murder on the Planet Express" and "Meanwhile" have always been the three that I'm most excited for from 7B, so it's nice to know that I still have those to look forwards to. The rest of the episodes could go either way very easily, but they seem like they're more likely to turn out well than most of the other 7B episodes were, based on their plot descriptions.

There are imhO two reasons for that:
- The gangs displayed "gangsta style posing" looked unfamiliar. With the speaking folks displaying exagerrated movement.
- Due to large groups, only the 1-2 "forground" characters were fully animated, the rest remaind very static. In front of such a static background, unfamiliar/exaggerated movements look even more obvious.

I think Leela and the Genestalk has a potential to be a great episode, reading the plot. Seeing the spoilers for it, a lot of great characters seem to be in it. If you think about it, most Leela-based episodes have been pretty good.

It has been thought about a lot here in PEEL and general opinion is, they really aren't very good.

However, it sounds very interesting and it could be very good. Or not.

The episode Game of Tones is going to be a great one probably because I think it will finally reveal if Leela is "The Other" and might reveal the importance of Nibbler's shadow in ITWGY.

At the end of ITWGY you can see what looks like Nibbler's shadow. The shadow being there might mean something big or it could mean nothing. This page on The Infosphere talks about Nibbler's shadow and its importance. http://theinfosphere.org/Nibbler%27s_shadow

Though I've had the DVD set since December, I'm just now getting around to listening to the 7A commentaries. On the "Zapp Dingbat" track, the episode's director actually says--and no one else, be they writer or actor or animator, disputes this claim--that Leela episodes are no fun to do. While I suppose I can sympathize with a predominantly male staff having a hard time relating to a female character, I personally enjoy most Leela-centric episodes; however, I definitely found it amusing that even the people who produce the show are not too keen on those same Leela episodes that PEEL as a whole tends to dislike.

David X. Cohen et al are on record as saying it has no significance and was nothing more than a nod to the shadow in the first episode (it was at a Comic Con panel, I believe - no idea which one).

They could easily change their minds and retroactively decide that there is significance to it but I don't know why they would. Nibbler's shadow being there isn't particularly compelling, seeing as we know his deal now and there's no real reason why he wouldn't be on the Planet Express ship.

Yea it probably is nothing but still I hope they mention "The Other" because this looks like the only episode left (besides the finale) with the nibblonians making an appearance.

I don't think so. At comic con this year, David X Cohen said that they had more stories to tell and that fans knew there was a question left unanswered. I do have a theory about the whole "the other" thing, though.

Man, I just realized that since Season 6, they really put all of their effort into the last episodes of the season.

Like when Season 6 ended, it ended with Cold Warriors, Fry Am The Eggman, REINCARNATION, which were all very good episodes.  And those episodes were among the final six of that season!

This season sounds like it has the same scenario, judging the plots of these next six episodes. I mean they sound more Futurama-ey than what we've seen this season so far.

I like it, but then I don't like it. Why can't they think of good plots like that for every episode? Is it really that hard to find a sci-fi plot that can really work? Oh well, it could just be me.
