This might be a bit of an easy question so please excuse my ignorance.

The theme tune at the start, bells etc.

Who wrote it and also, I'm sure its based on a song I heard about 3 / 4 years ago. I never managed to find out who wrote the song but have been trying to for ages. So if anyone knows the song I mean I would be forever in your debt.

Failing that who composed or performed the Theme.

Hope you can help.

Thanks in advance

According to the Futurama New Zealand Website, the Futurama theme song is based on the song "Psyché Rock" by Pierre Henri and Michel Colombier. It has been remixed by FatBoy Slim.

The opening theme was done by Christopher Tyng

I knew it was officially made by Christopher. Ting. Is it true what Joe25 said? Maybe the author was inspired by someone's else music (I'll check that "Psyché Rock" ), but I never heard of an involvment of Fatboy Slim in the making of the theme. Also, in the audio commentary on Futurama Season 1 DVDs, Matt & the others just mention C. Ting about musics.

I think Joe25 meant was that Fatboy Slim (the "classical" music from the 20th century) just redid the song independent of Futurama.

Me too.  I always thought the song was unique to Futurama, but I have heard too many *very* close variants from different sources to conclude that it was a totally independent creation.

I'd always wondered about it too.  Just never thought to ask.  Thanks for the info.

I was wondering the same thing, because the music is used in the current Coca Cola advert!

Here in Italy a very similiar theme was used to advert a Fiat car... I think Fox took a legal action for that.

Saw that Coca Cola ad too, it sounds slower or like it was the original version and the Futurama theme is the remixed version.

I already pointed out somewhere else that the theme song resembles Louie Louie.

Car ads? Coke adverts? Lawsuits? Fatboy slim? (thinks of *italic-text* bird of prey*italic-text* and shudders)

I prefer ignorance when the theme tune was what it was, a theme tune.  :hmpf:

Yeah,

I just seen the UK (maybe other county's too) Coke add with the guy driving the lawnmower.

That is the original song, the one I have been trying to track down.

Anyone know the title author etc.

Very welcoming forum,

Thanks again.

Is the car ad where they stop to get petrol and then drive off?

yes it is
I think it's the Multipla (at least that's its name in Italy - they change them country by contry) - the jingle reminds a lot the theme from Futurama
