Peter from "Family Guy" is becoming a new crew member on Futurama. Thus now that Seth has joined the Futurama crew FOX has just renewed it for 12 seasons.

Well.. he really is just an writer/employee, it's possible rabid fans may find out before him even. I'd say ask DXC... he'll have a better idea of what the chances truly are.

I guess Eric Rogers is informend about the show's Future. After all, an employer cannot expect his writing crew to "stay on hold" until he makes his mind, and expects them to turn down other job opportunities on a "just in case" basis.
His allowance to MENTION the show's future in public is something completely different, though. A renewal/cancellation represents -even in case of a cartoon show- Business insider information, about which the employes will have to remain silent.
And no writer (wishing to ever get a Job again) will reveal that information on his own.

Again, I doubt he's the first in line to know.

North Korea's rantings probably wouldn't help any production worries either.

I guess Eric Rogers is informend about the show's Future. After all, an employer cannot expect his writing crew to "stay on hold" until he makes his mind, and expects them to turn down other job opportunities on a "just in case" basis. You'd be surprised. In television especially, I'm pretty sure it's common. In fact, it has happened to Futurama before; even discounting cancellations, considering that most of the writers had already had to go off and do other things (or just not do anything) between production of seasons 6 and 7. While David X. was still there to wrap up production on the episodes, most of the writing was long-since done by the time the show as renewed again, and there was no need for the writers to be at the offices. This is an unfortunate thing with a lot of shows. They often aren't told until the very last minute whether they will still have jobs in a week, and networks often adamantly refuse to let them know beforehand. "Community" cast members (that show is out of production right now, by the way) have attested to getting ready to clean out their lockers when they've found out about renewals....and they usually found out about them from the FANS. "Angel" was infamously cancelled precisely because it was doing so well that the creator dared ask the network for an earlier renewal notice so the cast and crew wouldn't have to start looking for jobs come May without any idea of whether they were coming back. Networks are absolutely this shitty to the people who work for them, and there's a lot of politics and pettiness that goes into it, too. That said. His allowance to MENTION the show's future in public is something completely different, though. A renewal/cancellation represents -even in case of a cartoon show- Business insider information, about which the employes will have to remain silent. Yes, this. There's absolutely no way David Cohen is allowed to blab openly about this if we don't already have an announcement.

It's great seeing some positivity in this thread rather than the usual "ohcrapitsaprilandtheshowhasnt beentenewedyet".
Okay: [Zoidberg mode on] "It's April and the show has not been renewed yet...HOORAY!!!" [Zoidberg mode off]

think for a second
Yeah, that's not going to happen. About the countdown! I'm so excited! I can't wait for see concept art and start to think about crazy theories
I propose a countdown to the countdown. Though we don't know exactly when the countdown will begin, we can at least prep ourselves and get excited over it again. PS.as always, I'm sorry for the bad english.
You did a pretty decent job if English isn't your native language. I gotta ask- what is your native tongue?

To reply to the news, "very soon" is probably very very soon.
I hope so, Eric said we'd get an official announcement about the future of the show at some point but when I asked him again a few weeks later he said there was nothing to announce. I think he just said that to stop panic among us fans about the show possibly being cancelled yet again.

Yippee! However, I've been following him, and it doesn't seem like he knows whats going on as far as renewal negotiations. Maybe Comedy Central is waiting for its new shows to bomb before renewing. Or maybe Comedy Central is considering renewing Futurama for a spring/fall season instead to pair it up with South Park.
