Ew, Mrs Mellonger. She'd make a great villain. Anyway... I'm actually really excited for the next episode, although I'm not sure if it's only because it's of the fact it's a new episode. But seeing as Leela is involved a lot in it being the candidate's campaign manager and all I'm both excited and nervous.

And, really, it's not like the writers had a whole lot they could do with Fry in the original run; the first two seasons were able to play with the idea that the Future is Weird and Fry Must Adjust to It--but seasons three and four were already shifting the focus of their Fry episodes to being about either his past and his family, or his courting of Leela. So the fact that most Fry episodes of the new run have fallen into one of those two categories shouldn't be surprising.
That said, though, the last two seasons of the original run also introduced the idea of Fry being, like, the Savior of the Universe, which provided fodder for a couple of awesome episodes (and was toyed with again in "Bender's Big Score" and "Into the Wild Green Yonder"). The writers really ought to pick up that thread again, if they're hurting for Fry-centric stories.
Funny you mentioned Homer, because I was thinking of him Though the average guy, they managed to come up with enough Homer Plots, so a Homer-type Solo career could also be suitable for Fry. Well...I just would not like an episode list, based on the scheme - Leela Plot - Bender Plot - Leela Plot - Bender Plot - Fry/Leela plot, Fry sacrifices something for Leela - Leela Plot - Bender Plot - Secondary Char plot. etc... Because by now, season 7 looks like that: BaB: Bender Plot AftA: Fry/Leela plot D3012 Leela Plot TToB: Bender Plot ZD : Leela Plot TBE: Leela Plot TSMDM: Hermes Plot FoaB: Fry/Leela plot Also, the constant "making a sacrifice for Leela" sooner or later will come off as "the more valuable human being, whose well being and the necessary sacrifices are the only reason allowing the inferior one to exist (plotwise). (Deliberate exaggeration, of course;) When looking at my post at second time, especially those ironically exagerrated ones look much angrier than I really meant it;) ) About the saviour (of the universe or something else) thing: They could certainly pick that one up again. I already stated before: Fry's lack of abilities FORCED the writers to come up with a new twist to a situation. E.g. "IiMF" features the typical hostage rescue situation, but in a really "crazy" (pun intended ) manner. Also, his "Savior of the Universe" roles might have been based on his lack of a Delta Brainwave. But they shared another basic trait: Something had to be done, and Fry was the only one who was available to do it. Taking other chars out of the game plotwise in such an episode would not be too hard. Based on the premise: Fry might be extremely lazy, but realized certain things have to be done. And -unfortunately- there is no one else there to do them for him, so this necessity gives him the kick in the pants he needs.

Okay, this leaves the episodes:
TBaB: Bender Plot AFtA: Fry/Leela Plot D3012: Leela/Bender Plot TToB: Bender Plot ZD: Leela Plot TBE: Leela/Amy Plot TSMDM: Hermes Plot FoB: Fry/Leela plot FwH: Bender Plot NdW: Farnsworth Plot 31CF: Bender Plot VMW: ? So, I really seems only Leela and Bender are the two main characters any more. Fry de facto reduced to a supporting character, who may only carry a plot when Leela is involved (VMV still left aside). I cannot say I like this development in season 7A. And in season 7B, also only Leela and Bender plots are known so far.

Wait....I keep hearing that the episode is called Decision 3012, but some people call it A Head in the Polls. Which one is right?
They're two separate episodes xD Decision 3012 is the new one ( A Head In The Polls is from season 2)

Couldn't they have just put Season 6 Volume 1 and Season 6 Volume 2, etc.? Also, Matt, David, Billy, John and Maurice are doing a 30 minute live Q&A on Wednesday 11th July after the airing of 'Zapp Dingbat', talking about the episode and the episode after that, 'The Butterjunk Effect'. More info here.Oh and Billy will be doing more Fry memes, live.

"Viva Mars Vegas" sounds like an Ocean's Eleven spoof. (I did not like Ocean's Eleven.... ) I'm going to be optimistic about TBE. When Futurama does sexy jokes well, it does them well. AWITM, after all.
* Inquisitor Hein wonders if he has seen a different version of AWITM than Spacefish...
