This sounds interesting: Cohen points to an episode he wrote called "Free Will Hunting" in which the Planet Express crew visits the robot home world -- last seen in Season 1. Source.

That'll be a nice little bonus for those of us who remember Fear of a Bot Planet.

Yay! Hopefully everything is copacetic on the home front, Pumpkinpie? I liked the eps but I was fading a bit whilst watching them, and need to re-watch them again soon.

I was originally not going to say anything about this. BUT, all this talk between Pumpkinpie and others is so far off topic and one of the most annoying kinds of spam. It would be more appropriate for the test thread. It isn't appropriate or amusing to see it plastered across three threads in General Discussion. Yes, Pumpkinpie is posting despite being "banned4lyfe" by her evil mother. Hoorah. We can all move on now, and get back to discussing Futurama. Out of 8 posts since her return, the first four were her announcing she was back, and the next four were her explaining that her mother had banned her from PEEL. There were two nonspecific statements included in that whole mess which stated that she loved the episodes. Nothing even approaching an actual review in the review threads. Speaking of which, now that Season 7 is here... why are people still discussing it in the countdown thread? I'm not only surprised that there isn't a "general Season 7" thread already, I'm surprised it wasn't started by Solid Gold Bender and I'm surprised half the posts in it aren't Pumpkinpie announcing that she's back, with the other half being a slap-fight between Unmentionable and Danny. Those would of course be bad things. I'm surprised that they're not true, but I suppose I'm actually a little grateful that they're not, too.

* TMC reads tnuk's post above Yep, that's basically all correct. Let's keep the Futurama discussion threads focused on the show. We have a huge Offtopic section to discuss things unrelated to the show

The promo clip of Fry talking about, like, being rich one day isn't from the same part of the episode as the clip from the Countdown. As far as I can tell, you can't view the former on CC's website or anything.

I'm pretty sure they're airing in production order, yeah. Considering the allusions DXC's made to there being a quasi-arc with Fry and Leela's relationship this season, I'd imagine it's necessary that the episodes be viewed in some kind of specific order. Not that CC would necessarily respect that order--but, according to the Infosphere, at least the first seven or eight episodes are airing sequentially.
About the prom thing, though: I kind of doubt it's going to be a flashback sequence (even though that would be kind of cool). I wonder if it's something similar to the girly calendar in "Neutopia"; like, maybe it's a sequence that was meant to play over the end credits, but since CC doesn't show the end credits, we missed it.
I'd download the episode on iTunes to see if my theory is correct, but $2.99 is a bit too rich for my blood. I'm not made of money!

Considering the allusions DXC's made to there being a quasi-arc with Fry and Leela's relationship this season, I'd imagine it's necessary that the episodes be viewed in some kind of specific order. Another thought came to my mind regarding the Fry/Leela arc: Last season, the writers claimed Fry to be the most dificult character to write by now. The season 7 previews/infos showed some Leela and Bender solo plots, but -so far- not really a Fry solo plot. AftA was a Fry/Leela episode, and FoAB mentions BOTH of them losing their memories (so, high probability to be again a Fry/Leela episode) . So, is it possible that Fry's quest for Leela is the only thing the writers managed to come up with for Fry? (Reducing the character de facto to supporting cast, as "one-trick-chasing after Leela" pony, while leaving Leela and Bender de facto as the only two "real" main characters?)

FoAB mentions BOTH of them losing their memories (so, high probability to be again a Fry/Leela episode). Spoiler alert, man! That said, though: In that DXC interview Danny posted last week, he explicitly said "Fun on a Bun" has a Fry/Leela angle to it: And if that's not enough, it's also a love story. I think it has the potential to be one of those memorable episodes that's a huge sci-fi epic but also has a fairly touching Fry-Leela story on top of it. So, there's that. Also: So, is it possible that Fry's quest for Leela is the only thing the writers managed to come up with for Fry? (Reducing the character de facto to supporting cast, as "one-trick-chasing after Leela" pony, while leaving Leela and Bender de facto as the only two "real" main characters?) To be fair, it's not like Fry has that many outstanding character traits. He is 1.) a sad-sack from 2.) the twentieth century who 3.) has a good heart but 4.) a low IQ, and is redeemed by 5.) his love of Leela. Additionally, he has 6.) daddy/mommy/brother issues and often feels 7.) lonely as a result. That seems like complexity, but ultimately Fry is Homer Simpson with more hair and a slightly better physique (and, generally speaking, fewer jerk-ass tendencies). He's one of my favorite characters, yes, but he's more or less the Everyman...and it's not like there's a whole lot new that can be done with a character like that. And, really, it's not like the writers had a whole lot they could do with Fry in the original run; the first two seasons were able to play with the idea that the Future is Weird and Fry Must Adjust to It--but seasons three and four were already shifting the focus of their Fry episodes to being about either his past and his family, or his courting of Leela. So the fact that most Fry episodes of the new run have fallen into one of those two categories shouldn't be surprising. That said, though, the last two seasons of the original run also introduced the idea of Fry being, like, the Savior of the Universe, which provided fodder for a couple of awesome episodes (and was toyed with again in "Bender's Big Score" and "Into the Wild Green Yonder"). The writers really ought to pick up that thread again, if they're hurting for Fry-centric stories.
